Those meanings are incorrect. You meant "stupid". "Dumb" is only used in the lower intelligence countries like America.

That is about what the high school here has. It is an old 100+ year old
building. OK, the bell systems is a bit newer -- it does have to cover four
buildings, but they are always fighting it.

I am not much of a gamer... unless you count chess, but no real computer power
needed for that. Even then I play about 1 game a day on average.

Not all CPUs have integrated graphics. So you pay more for a CPU with the
integrated graphics then add a GPU to it. Then you can add an external GPU.

Sure... but those made to work with convection have that as an advantage. As

When did you develop the new attitude you describe? As previously

For basic needs desktop Linux can be an excellent and cheaper

But if you want to rise about the lowest common denominator it is
not likely

How do you explain your crystal clear contradiction?

Nor is anyone asking to.

I hope they start demanding proof of vaccination once it gets full FDA
approval (which is likely coming soon).

For me it is not about specs but what I can do with the system. For example,
there was a discussion I saw yesterday where people were talking about how
Usenapp (my Usenet client) does not have ROT13 built in. It used to but it was
removed. So I added it. I do have to paste after it runs, but no need to run
to a different system. Here:

And the video on how I did that:

https://youtu.be/s2r6tsdOfk8

I have some services I should likely remove to make the menu shorter, but
still just real easy to make (OK, I looked up the command line tool to make
ROT13 that easy), and real easy to use. To me having that ability to add
things to apps or to otherwise streamflow workflows is more important than
specs.

Home insurance does not pay for the fire department, they pay for fire damage.
And they certainly do not pay to cover the 20+ fires burning within 20 miles
or so of me.

macOS has been free for the best part of a decade.

I've never owned a Ford but I have owned a Chrysler-built Jeep and all I
can say is that every time I hear a car pass by my house with an odd
noise indicating that something is broken, it's a Chrysler. I don't
think it's even humanly possible for any manufacturer to make cars as
bad as they do.

They're going to try to force you to do it before the end of the year if
you're in the United States. It doesn't matter that the CDC has
determined that the test is garbage and revoked its emergency use
proving that the case numbers were severely inflated, they always
intended to inject chemicals into you to severely compromise your health
either immediately or eventually. They were just looking for an excuse
to do so.

See the 1976 Swine Flu "epidemic" or the American government's
insistence that using DDT in the house was safe and every family should
do it for proof that they truly don't care about the people.

Even with Intel Macs it is not as easy as many seem to think. And if you did
do it there was no reason to think the machine would be supported, and if you
ran into issues no way to get support from Apple, and Apple offers excellent
support.

You pay for it with the hardware... he is talking about pirating.

what i wrote is based on current medical knowledge about covid, backed
up by numerous clinical tests and research, and viruses in general.

your claim that the delta variant was 'created' by those who were
vaccinated is laughably wrong and shows a deep lack of understanding of
basic biology, let alone medicine. it's not how anything works.

you also failed to provide evidence that any of the covid vaccines
(there are several) 'is likely to kill' those who take it.

the reality is the opposite. the vaccines are very safe. the danger is
*not* getting vaccinated, which is likely to result in illness or
death, and for more than just the person refusing to be vaccinated.

> lieve-delta-variant-not-more-dangerous-than-others/>

another fluff piece and a logical fallacy.

you don't even understand what you're reading.

*your* link confirms the delta variant is more contagious, which alone
makes it more dangerous if everything else was the same (which it
isn't). to then claim it's not as dangerous is contradictory.

delta is roughly twice as likely to transmit to another host, so even
if it's less virulent (which it isn't), the net effect is worse.

as it turns out, delta is *more* virulent, being twice as likely to
result in hospitalization.
8-1/fulltext>
In summary, we show that the Delta VOC in Scotland was found mainly
in younger, more affluent groups. Risk of COVID-19 hospital admission
was approximately doubled in those with the Delta VOC when compared
to the Alpha VOC, with risk of admission particularly increased in
those with five or more relevant comorbidities.

ant/>
Delta¹s greater virulence means that unvaccinated people who become
infected will be sicker and the burden on the health care system will
be greater. Evidence suggests, for example, that an unvaccinated
person with Delta infection is roughly twice as likely to require
hospital treatment than a person infected with the previously
dominant variant.

the delta variant has also been linked to new symptoms not seen with
other variants:
s-point-to-delta-variant-being-more-severe>
Hearing impairment, severe gastric upsets and blood clots leading
to gangrene, symptoms not typically seen in Covid patients, have
been linked by doctors in India to the so-called delta variant. In
England and Scotland, early evidence suggests the strain -- which is
also now dominant there -- carries a higher risk of hospitalization.

tl;dr - the delta variant is worse.

covid and stomach flu, aka norovirus, are two wildly different things.

trying to compare them shows just how little you understand about
either one.

norovirus outbreaks *do* cause shutdowns, and it's quite common too.

see below for numerous examples. there were so many that i stopped
listing them.

you fail to understand that covid is a pandemic, with *significantly*
more cases and deaths than norovirus, and why measures to control its
spread need to be stronger.

as of right now, there have been more than 35 million covid cases, more
than 625,000 deaths, with ~5 million currently active cases.

norovirus is a tiny fraction of that, at about 900 deaths per *year* in
the usa.

at covid's peak last january, there were ~4500 deaths *per* *day* in
the usa.

five times as many covid deaths in one day than norovirus has in an
entire year.

the math is very simple.

and death isn't the only bad outcome. in addition to being sick for
days or weeks, there's also long term covid.

norovirus is normally over in a few days with no lingering symptoms,
whereas a substantial number of those who got covid and recovered have
long term issues to varying degrees.

keep in mind that m1 is just the *first* of what's to come.

the next version is coming in a couple of months, possibly more than
one.

those are opinions, not actual attempts to repeal anything, and an
example of the first amendment in action. so much for 'limiting free
speech'.

what's your solution for reducing gun violence?

something needs to be done, which even hardcore gun nuts agree.

also, john paul stevens was a republican appointee. so much for it
being 'the left'.

politicians say a lot of things, very little of it based in reality.

their goal is fundraising and to get re-elected.

there's a lot of disinformation and flat out bogus info in those links.

it's fashionable to bash 'the left' about censorship, but the reality
is that 'the right' is actively trying to censor anything they don't
like, including wanting to repeal section 230, which will not have the
effect they think it will.

trump demanded that parler ban anyone who criticized him, which is a
direct violation of the first amendment. parler told him to get
stuffed.
p-critics-to-get-him-to-join-book>
Parler and former President Trump were in talks to get Trump on
the platform, but they stalled after Parler refused to ban those who
criticized the former president, Michael Wolff¹s book about Trump¹s
last days in office says.

florida republican governor ron desantis filed a bogus and performative
lawsuit, where social media platforms will be fined if they ban people,
is a direct attack against the first amendment, and in what was no
surprise to anyone, it was quickly blocked by a judge. one of the more
amusing parts of the lolsuit was that theme parks get an exemption.
apparently disney paid him off.

another example is trump's bogus and performative lawsuit against
facebook, twitter and youtube, which is yet another attack against the
first amendment and section 230, but also wrongly claims to be a class
action lawsuit and was filed in the wrong court. it's going absolutely
nowhere. its sole intent was to extract money from his ignorant
followers, who are too stupid to know any better. there's even a
website where people can 'join' the lawsuit by making a donation,
except that the fine print says donations are not for the lawsuit nor
is anyone actually joining anything (other than a mailing list).

yet another example is when trump threatened to revoke tv stations
licenses because they were critical of him, another clear attack on the
first amendment.
eat-on-tv-licenses-may-be-mostly-bluster>
President Donald Trump¹s campaign, in a letter on Wednesday,
told stations in five battleground states to stop showing the ad from
Priorities USA, a political action committee that supports Democratic
candidate Joe Biden.

that's just a few of many examples and the pattern is quite clear.

ad hominem. resorting to insults means you can't refute anything.

the vaccines (plural, there are several) are *not* an experiment.

they have been extensively tested (more so than usual) and shown to be
very safe and very effective.

the difference between eua and full approval is logistics, not safety:

fference-between-fda-emergency-use-authorization-and-fda-approval/>
In a public health emergency, manufacturing and approval of vaccines
can be streamlined through an Emergency Use Authorization or EUA.
An EUA does not affect vaccine safety, because it does not impact
development, such as research, clinical studies and the studying
of side effects and adverse reactions. Instead, it speeds up
manufacturing and administrative processes.
....
All vaccines follow the same testing processes, whether they are
approved for emergency use or through a typical license.
....
In a public health emergency, manufacturing may occur while vaccines
are still in development, rather than after approval. These efforts
happen simultaneously, and instead of filing for a BLA, the
manufacturer files for Emergency Use Authorization.

Most gun owners want universal background checks.
