Yup. Like don't harm others. Seems simple...

The same precautions that work against COVID also work against the flu.

Given the UK's natural (births-deaths) growth rate is ~100,000 per year and
COVID killed well over 100,000 last year it most definitely a major
pandemic even by your ridiculous standards.
https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/populationandmigration/populationestimates/articles/overviewoftheukpopulation/january2021#impact-of-the-coronavirus-covid-19-on-population-and-migration-statistics

We won't know for sure until the formal population statistics are published
in the next few months.

knuttle <keith_nuttle@sbcglobal.net> posted this:

> And the flu disappeared almost. I wonder what happen to it.

That would fall under "acquired immunity". An appropriate analogy would be
smallpox (primarily) and the Native Americans' response to the European
migration...

There's "natural immunity", seems to somewhat applicable to COVID-19. Then
there's "acquired immunity" which people have been afflicted and recovered
and then passed those traits on to their descendents. And then there's
"immunization immunity", which is the most bestest option for those who
don't have access to the previous 2 types of immunity.

So, the flu has not "almost disappeared"; rather, our medical care systems
have developed very effective vaccinations and treatments for it... While
not being totally immune from the influenza viruses, much of the world's
population has some degree of acquired immunity which means they only get
really, really, really sick instead of outright dying from contracting it.
Also, you get symptoms very quickly from flu and can seek treatment before
you spread it juxtaposed to COVID-19 which can take a ride in a host human
for several days before causing symptoms.

And with influenza, MUCH LIKE the COVID-19 pandemic, the vast majority of
people dying and catastropically sick are the unvaccinated... certain
comorbitities and immuno-deficiencies being the exceptions or "outliers"...
which our INGSOC media love to focus upon to maintain a status-quo of
diametrically opposed positions... both sides primarily founded on
fallacies rather than actual FACTS... "Facts" being defined as a thing
which cannot be refuted - but can be modified as we obtain more related,
relevant, and pertinent data.

Vaccinations dramatically reduce the chances of getting seriously ill or
dying from COVID-19 and MASKS - proper worn in appropiate public,
uncontrolled circumstances - dramatically reduce the chances of either
transmitting or receiving the virus.

While more prominent use of masks could reduce the COVID-19 numbers
dramatically, however it certainly should be voluntary and NOT MANDATED...
Encouraging the use of masks would be much more effective and efficacious
with obtaining widespread compliance.

Studies are now showing - what should have been clear from the earlier
President Trump COVID-19 briefings - immunized people can still contract,
carry, and transmit the virus! This is mainly because our vaccinations are
mRNA vaccines... They don't work like an insecticide and kill the virus,
they simply keep the immunized person from getting sick and/or dying - to a
great extent. So, while a person is immune from catastrophic consequences
with the vaccine, they can unintentionally bounce the virus - and/or the
mutated viruses - among a susceptible (unmasked) population and actually
give the virus additional opportunities to mutate further.

mRNA vaccines stop the virus from replicating. The virus needs to
replicate to survive. If it can't replicate, it will jump to another host
- ad infinitum - until it can replicate or until it dies. Meanwhile, it
will ultimately try to mutate as a survival mechanism... as viruses do.

The yearly flu vaccination actually causes the body to kill that virus.

For the record: Some medical folks hypothesize about how long the COVID-19
virus can survive without attaching to the particular protein needed for it
to replicate thereby causing your own immune system to make you sick,
sicker, sickest, then die, and conflate statistics to support various
conjectures, etc., etc., etc... Beware of these media "doctors"!

But the true thing is that we SIMPLY DO NOT KNOW ENOUGH YET!

We do know the virus is mutating and becoming even more virulent... The
Delta strain is the latest case-in-point. This is a brand new pestilence
on humankind.

The ANSWER is OBVIOUS: The faster and harder we contain the virus, the
sooner we'll be rid of it... But this would take world-wide co-operation,
which is likely not very plausible given the variables of politics and
politicians, despots and idiots included. Maybe we need a 2-week strictly
enforced quarantine before entering or re-entering the USA while we
exterminate the virus here? Again, not very plausible for the same
reasons...

Everything about defeating this virus seems to boil down to all the people
unconditionally cooperating. The quicker we all could do that, the quicker
this thing would all be done and fade into another "I remember when"
anecdote.

It very much boils down to a 'Risks vs. Gains' contemplation - which should
not be founded on simply opposing autocratic Democrats' extremely reductive
reactions which would over-ride common sense and practicality...

Appealing to citizens' common sense and humanity with the extant facts -
which are being modified as we learn more - would likely be much more
effective and certainly more palatable than government mandates on any
level.

What does it really hurt wearing a mask - even if you've had the vaccine?
It's a little bit inconvenient BUT IT'S DEADLY TO THE ENEMY - WHO IS THIS
VIRUS!

Speaking of statistics: Isn't it interesting that the INGSOC Democrats'
propaganda is directed at ONLY COVID-19 positive test numbers while
ignoring the numbers of severely ill and mortality rates are NOT ONLY way
down from the initial outbreak, but remain the lowest in the entire world?

REFERENCE: USA COVID-19 infections = ~25-million / COVID-19 deaths = ~
600,000, which is a MORTALITY RATE of ~2.5% - the lowest in the world and
going down because our health care is so much more available and superior.

While our infection rates are currently going up, we are testing more
people than ever before and our hospitalization and mortality rates are
going proportionately down - and even hospitalization stays are much
shorter because of improved medical knowledge and techniques.

Fully 15,000 of the 600,000 dead Americans are due DIRECTLY to New York
Democrat Governor Cuomo's reckless decision to endanger the most vulnerable
among us... Blue State hypocrisy at it's finest!

"If someone is able to show me that what I think or do is not right, I will
happily change, for I seek the truth, by which no one was ever truly
harmed." -- Marcus Aurelius

INGSOC Democrats should try that on, for a change!

Sounds like what I like, but I prefer single player, with everything else computer controlled.

With tabletop games it is far more about story and socializing with friends
(or family). A rather different breed of game.

In one and a third years, it's killed 4.3 million people. In that same time, the world population has increased by 65 million. So it's negligible.

So you shouldn't believe the earlier ones. With physics it's not so bad, we usually get it almost right. But with biology we don't have a clue - just look at how many times they've told us to ignore previous "evidence" and eat yet another different kind of fat.

No point if it's not given to the general public. Loads of people are just sticking a piece of scrap cotton over their mouth ffs.

No, leaving someone to die costs nothing.

As I said, you don't know what common sense is. You're not alone, most of the population have lost it. Most people just act like robots, that's why they need a government to hand them instructions, it's pathetic.

You're worrying about chances, not definites. It's fine to be scared if you fall out of a plane with no parachute, but not if there's a tiny tiny chance of catching something that probably won't kill you.

We're not harming others, we're just not going out of our way to protect them. Only in France is it required by law to be a good samaritan if you see an accident etc.

Common sense states cotton can't tell which way the virus is travelling.

What assumption? We know some people don't even know they've had it, and some people die. Best to remove the dying ones. Then next time around we'll all be the strong ones.

They're a very good judge, and they should always be your decision to make. Forcing someone to protect themselves is just wrong. We must always be able to choose to risk ourselves.

Everyone knows what common sense is. Except OCD people like yourself. You have to have numbers, facts, evidence, rules, it's pathetic. You're like a computer.

I'm not scared by it. I'm taking appropriate steps to reduce the chance

But they do not agree what it is... making it useless in a debate:

Person 1: It is common sense to do A.
Person 2: It is common sense to do B.

Then what? I say go with evidence.

With road rules and mask mandates it is about protecting OTHERS. Many on the
right think they have the right to harm others.
