This is clearly false. You are actively making the choice to risk spreading a

You said they pay the same. They don't. But, sure, it would be great if those
in the cities were not being asked to socialized the costs of those outside
the cities, just as it would would be great if red states would pay their own
way and not depend on the support of the blue states.

Nobody said, suggested, hinted, or implied anything of the sort.

See:

Person 1: It is common sense to do A.
Person 2: It is common sense to do B.

Then each insists their common sense is right. In such situations let's use
evidence.

There is a societal and moral cost to that.

voluntary is not working.

his briefings did not show much of anything, other than how much he

at a significantly lower rate than unvaccinated people.

nope.

guess how it keeps people from getting sick or dying: by killing the
virus.

vaccinated people are not immune from catastrophic consequences,
however, the probability of a bad outcome is significantly lower.

new variants breed in unvaccinated people, where the virus can
replicate like crazy.

nope. because the virus can't replicate in a vaccinated host, there
won't be enough of it to spread to others.

nothing is perfect, and there are a small number of breakthrough
infections, which are generally mild, which means less contagious,
although not zero.

good luck on that.

far too many people refuse to cooperate, prolonging the pandemic and
fucking things up for everyone else.

Why can't it replicate?

They provably aren't. They are very corruptible by emotion and bias.

> Forcing someone to protect themselves is just wrong. We must always be
> able to choose to risk ourselves.

If people are so badly informed to not understand the risks or
intentionally choose to ignore them despite the real risks, then laws to
force people are appropriate.

Pretty much every safety aspect of cars or driving is legally required
because otherwise people would be (and were) dying in enormous numbers.

It's well demonstrated that people are very bad at judging risk especially
when it feeds into their own biases.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/the-inertia-trap/201303/why-are-people-bad-evaluating-risks
https://www.wired.com/2007/03/security-matters0322/
https://www.cogencyteam.com/news/2018/02/why-are-humans-bad-at-calculating-risk/

I mean people are more scared by terrorism than car accidents despite the
fact they're far more likely to be killed in a car accident.

because the vaccine causes an antibody response, which fights off the
virus.

to be accurate the virus will replicate a little, but much less than
had the person not been vaccinated.

nothing is perfect, and a small number of people will have breakthrough
infections, who will be contagious, but usually for a shorter time than
had they not been vaccinated.

That is more accurate. The vaccine only primes your adaptive immune
system so it can launch a defense more quickly (priming memory cells)
to get ahead of the game. It by no means stops a virus from
replicationg in a host. It does cause more viral dose particles to be
less effective at entering cells and marks them for destruction.

I may need a third shot, and will get one if recommended.

Nope. It's logical reasoning coupled with Occam's Razor. Any evidence
supporting the presence of god is more easily explained without resorting
to a magical being.

You should have enough stoves to cook everything at once. You can get more than one thing in an oven and more than one thing on a hob.

I do not. I go whenever it's clear. The lights are just bunching up when cars go different ways.

You can't call that safety. If we drove on random sides, we'd all crash with a very short time and have no working cars left.

For example, wearing a seatbelt is for safety. Wearing a parachute is because you have to. The first one has a tiny chance of a problem, the second is 100%.

Precisely. You have made my point well. Being an atheist doesn't make you commit sins. So removing laws wouldn't make you commit crimes.

Puns are made by people who are shit at being comedians. We don't want to groan, we want to laugh.

Puns have been a part of humor as long as there has been written language.
Gilgamesh, widely considered the oldest written story, has them (and sexual
jokes). Human nature has not changed. :)

I have had a few but I do not think that many. I had more when I was young and
had long hair and drove a beat up vehicle in Vegas. The cops targeted such

Laws help to influence behavior, but also provide legal consequences.

Resources are limited. To cook more, and stuff that is not even wanted, would
slow things down. You also need more staff to prep and to make sure things are
not burning. Many restaurants operate on slim margins already.
