Hence why libertarianism cannot work -- you have impacts on others you refuse

Why wait at all? Others can stop for you as well as you can stop for them.

In some incidences wearing a mask makes sense, however there is NO
common sense in when they should be worn. For incidence the political
hack says everyone should wear a mask. Does that mean in my back yard
where there are no houses except mine for several hundred feet.

I have seen people driving alone in their cars wearing mask. Is this
logical who is going to contaminate them. The front seat?

What about when I to into the local Ag Supply house. The building is
huge, you can go to shop, do every thing you need and never see a
person. Is a mask needed there?

In North Carolina even when he guber said mask were required. You would
wear a mask past the front door of the restaurant to your table, the
waitress would bring you your drink. You would take your mask off and
not put it on again until you were headed to the front door.

No common sense!!!!!!

Common sense and the CDC guideline stated before the the panic that you
had to less that 6' from a person for greater than 15 minutes for the
transmission of bacteria and viruses.

129,743 deaths says otherwise.

Between march and june last year over a fifth of all deaths had COVID as
the underlying cause.

False.

That's how the immune system works.

Philosophically that's still the optimal method. Allowing gun ownership is
not consistent with owning any type of gun.

I can answer this one. If you're making frequent stops, it
makes more sense to just leave it on.

If I'm doing a "single stop" drive, I take it off after the
mask-required time is done.

Allowing gun ownership is not consistent with owning guns?

*Any* guns. It's not carte blanche. There's always a limit to that
"freedom", even in the US.

just because you've a right to gun ownership, it doesn't automatically mean
you're entitled to an arsenal of Uzis or AK-47s. So the same should be for
military-style assault weapons. For the self-defence argument a handgun is
plenty and for hunting a rifle is fine.

Then, given these are lethal weapons and are very dangerous when mishandled
it also appropriate for gun owners to be properly profiled and adequate
storage required.

None of the above is inconsistent with gun rights, the second amendment or
freedom. It just sensible precautions in modern society.

It's ridiculously cheap. Treating seriously sick people is very, very
expensive. Preventing that with a two quid shot makes absolute sense
even when you multiply it up by the whole population.

For example, for a measles outbreak in Liverpool the cost of dealing
with 2,458 cases cost 24x more than an additional 11,793 vaccines to
achieve herd immunity in the area.
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26944712/

COVID treatment is far more expensive than for measles and the COVID vax
is cheaper than the MMR, so the economics of mass vaccination are even
more embarassingly obvious.

There's simplicity and clarity of message and there's evidence
supporting certain decisions. Sometimes one over-rules the other. Plus
the evidence for this brand new disease, remember, changes over time so
politicians need to balance confusion caused by changing the message
from diverting away from the evidence.

It's made worse in the US that there's been a huge political
partisanship around what the message should be so different states have
very different rules. All that's achieved is confusion, division and
unecessary deaths.

Would the message be better if the mask mandate were measured by volume
of the building you're in?

You're welcome to keep your mask on whilst sat at the table.

"Common sense" is not a thing. It's a refuge for people not wanting to
follow the rules.

Enclosed spaces are different. Also, this is not generic for all
bacteria and viruses. Only air-borne respiratory viruses.

The lack of "Common sense" is: With no cars visible in any direction,
standing at a street corner in the pouring rain wait for the traffic
light to allow you to cross the street.

The lack of "Common sense" is: Driving 60 mph in icy conditions on a
winding road.

The lack of "Common sense" is: wearing a mask to protect your self from
Covid when you are the only one in the middle of a foot ball field and
no one is in the stadium.

We shouldn't be forgetting that the fomite vector still exists. I don't
wear a mask in my truck because nobody else drives it. If your vehicle
gets used by others, masking is still a good idea.

I never wear a mask thinking that it is self-protecting. Hospital grade
respirators (PPE) are another matter, but I don't have any of those.

What was actually stated in the previous post is stll up there. Any
type of gun 'as prescribed by law' is a far cry from 'any type of gun'
but I sure wouldn't want to come up against armed insurgents with a
single-shot bolt action hunting rifle and a small magazine pistol.
Hunting and self-defense in the home are strawman arguments from the
left.

I was not really making any point about gun ownership but noting what I saw as
inconsistencies with Commander Kinsey's claims.

As far as the second amendment, I do not think anyone says our right to own
arms should be unlimited. Nukes are arms -- do we want private citizens
running around with those? The question is where to draw the lines.

I personally think going with the historical / scholarly interpretation of the
second amendment makes more sense than jumping to the newer NRA-pushed view
which is more about supporting gun manufacturers than about rights for the
people.

OK, if you mean limits I agree. And the second does not even mention guns, it
mentions arms (in the context of a well regulated militia, at that).

Nobody thinks people should own ANY arm... nukes, ricin, whatever. The
question is where to draw the line, not if a line should be drawn.

Add to all of that, if you look at the scholarly interpretations of the second
before the NRA started pushing their modern views it is very different than
how it is often seen now. Why go with a new interpretation... one that is far
more beneficial to the gun industry than to the people.

The fomite vector still exists. Well, sort of.

You've obviously never been to Germany :)

People can choose or not to following street signage. There may be
consequences for not following the instructions.

That's simply dangerous and often against the law.

No-one mandates that. Making things up doesn't help your case.
