That's been the case for presidential elections for my entire life. I get
a little more interested in Congressional elections, and pay attention to
state and local elections.

Yeah, more Catholic social doctrine. The Church used to come up with some
pretty good ideas although not recently. (again, almost all my life)

That battle was lost long ago. Biden issues the marching orders and
Turncoat Roberts backs him. Bush made as big a mistake with that one as
Eisenhower did with Earl Warren.

I actually don't want executive authority. I don't think I have the
temperament for it, in large part because of my brain disorder/
substance abuse. I'm self-aware of it. But I should have the ability
to declare law valid and not. No one can replace me, on that.

They interviewed quite a few Democrats who went "unaffiliated" to vote for
Haley and asked who they would vote for in the general election if Haley
won. All said Biden. For an idea of how many of the "temporarily
unaffiliated" voted for Haley, the exit polls showed that among Republican
registered voters, Trump had a 50 point lead over Haley. Also, it looks like
there is going to be close to 350,000 votes in the Republican primary, about
125,000 in the Democrat primary. I don't think New Hampshire is *that* much
skewed Republican (if at all).

As for Haley staying in the race... I would imagine her funding will dry up
after this loss and she might reconsider. She spent, I think, $40 million in
an attempt to win New Hampshire. She'll win 8 or 9 delegates, so about $5
million per delegate. Trump spent about half that — so not cheap at $1.7
million a delegate either (he'll win 12 or 13 delegates).

Trump was either really stupid with a lot of his picks (especially for his
cabinet and two of his Supreme Court picks) or he chose exactly who he
wanted to choose under the guise of being "a poor judge of character." I
tend to think the latter. Trump says what his electorate wants to hear and
does (for the most part) what the Swamp creatures tell him to do.

The lockdowns were in 2020; Trump was POTUS then, not Biden.

Likewise, we do know that the CoVid stimulus spending was the cause of
inflation, as it was a "damned if you do & damned if you don't" choice between
a crashed economy & recession in the immediate term, versus inflation later..
The vast majority of that spending ... all of the PPP, all of the Airlines money
were also under Trump in 2020, as well as 2 of the 3 checks sent to individuals:
(the third check sent out by Biden in Spring 2021). The sum of all of this was
a shade north of $5T, of which just $931B were the Stimulus checks: if we KISS
those into assumed equal portions for the three rounds of checks, then Biden's
was ~$300B, so the spending distribution was roughly $4.7T = 94% Trump

They're following the law, namely the Refugee Act of 1980 which says that the USA
obligated ourselves to accept and adjudicate refugees from other countries; see:

The Republican Party has been systematically underfunding the immigration court
system, resulting in a huge backlog, so those refugee arrivals get to stay here for
several years while waiting for their legally-entitled day in court ("Law & Order!" party).
Statistically, most of the time they lose (like 95%), and are then subject to deportation,
but good luck now finding them.

One pipeline was cancelled, which was the Keystone XL extension. That Canadian tar sands
oil was already flowing - - shipped in other pipes & rail tanker cars. As such, had the pipeline
been built, it wouldn't have really changed oil production, but just increased corporate profits.
FYI, the reason it was cancelled was because Trump violated US laws to give them their go-ahead.
Also note that the tar oil sands are a very heavy 'sludge' grade which is used as bunker fuel on
cargo ships: it has no impact on the price at the pumps for American gas/diesel consumer prices.

than what the Trump administration gave away in just the PPP "loan" program, which we are now
finding that tons of that $800B in giveaways can't now be audited to find and determine if it wasn't
fraudulent to begin with...but it appears that at least 10% ($80B) was fraudulent:

Not that long ago Idaho was flip-flopping between Democrat and Republican,
but not recently. I don't think it mattered to Idahoans, so long as the
candidate was Mormon.

Back in the 90s I heard the story of someone who wrote to Cecil Andrus
complaining that jobs were listed in Idaho Falls for "former LDS
missionaries — wasn't that discrimination?" The governor's response was
supposedly, "You do know I'm LDS, right?" The Mormons still have their
religious education classrooms right across from the Public schools in a lot
places. The kids walk across the street and take their Mormon training
classes during school hours.

With all the Californians, Oregonians and Washingtonians moving to Idaho, to
escape the insanity of Seattle, Portland, San Francisco and L.A., I'm
guessing the Mormon influence will slowly wane. Probably already is waning.
The mayor of Boise was born in Boston, I think. She's already survived one
recall election. Even threatened to sue the city of Meridian because
Meridian didn't force mask wearing during Covid. I think she was a little
confused about what city she was the mayor of.

The influx has leavened Salt Lake and environs. People don't think of
southern ID as Mormon but they control a lot. The panhandle is a different
story. Butler is gone but there still are a lot of Identity leaning
people.

Especially southeast Idaho. Idaho Falls was (maybe still is) the most Mormon
city in the country. In the 90s I worked at a Radio Shack there for a short
while. One time the manager of my Radio Shack was actually in the aisle of
the mall arguing with someone about a computer sale. (Teachers would buy
computers at our store to try them out, then (after a month) bring them back
because they could get an a discount buying through their school discount
via some catalog. This was happening quite a lot, hurting our sales. We
would supply and training, then they would return the computer.) Anyhow
these two were actually yelling at each other, in public, saying "I'll tell
the bishop on you." "No, I'll tell the bishop on YOU." These were grown men,
in their 30s or 40s. Just unbelievable.
