Do you consider THESE groups to have been part of the Usenet?

http://aumha.org/nntp.htm

As far as I'm aware, they are all 'dead' now.
I'm 99% sure that Ken Blake used to post in some of them!

I saw a version of Windows in 1985 on a Compaq luggable (30+ lbs) with a
enclosed 12 ??? inch amber screen. The Windows was tiled and horribly
busy. We bought the Compaq and never ran Windows on it. The Compaq was
a 8086 if I remember correctly.

I have one in my collection and initially thought it was not working.
Oddly it would only run one version of DOS and no others. I thing it was
msdos 3.3

Not sure

As to early Windows. Win1 windows ran tiled.

With Win2, they could overlap.

*WHERE* did you never post, Philo?

For example: microsoft.public.windowsXP.general

At the URL I provided it says:-

MICROSOFT PUBLIC NEWSGROUPS
Updated February 14, 2007

There are many valuable newsgroups on the msnews.microsoft.com server,
on nearly every available topic and in many different languages.
Clicking the links below will automatically create any necessary account
configuration in Outlook Express or Wndows Mail (or other default
newsreader program) and take you directly to the newsgroup you have
selected — no complicated technical configurations are needed!

I strongly encourage you to visit the newsgroups with a newsreader such
as Outlook Express. Generally, people seeking help are better able to
find answers posted to their questions using a newsreader than if they
use Microsoft’s alternate web interface. These links make that easy to do.

==============================================================

I'm going to guess that msnews.microsoft.com IS part of the Usenet!

Am I right?

Microsoft disconnected themselves from USENET, some years ago.

microsoft.public.windowsxp.general exists, because it's too much
work to remove it.

Could not control the narrative. The forums they
opened up are terrible and censor the crap out of
what you say.

And the forums are a terrible place to try to get
anything answered. M$ can do no wrong. It is all
your fault.

Thanks, Paul 😃

You may be interested to note that the news-servers I use carry dozens,
if not hundreds, of microsoft groups.

Microsoft.public.security for a start and microsoft.public.test.here was
once one of my favourites!
