I hope they'll carry on providing. I've used it for years. There's also
Savlon antiseptic cream; it works wonders with all my cuts and grazes.

About Googling?
Nope.

About trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl sold in the UK originally from
Pfizer, an American company, sold off to Omega Pharma in 2004, a Belgium
company acquired back in 2014 by Perrigo, an Irish/USA company, which is
a product misnomer because the TCP got removed back in 1950s?
Yep.

Interesting, that search has an Amazon link as the first on my screen and I get an OOPS from amazon when I try it. So your google that for
you, doesn't work so good for me.

It's not really an amazon link, If I hover over it, it's actually to

<https://google.gprivate.com/https?https://www.amazon.co.uk/TCP-Original-Antiseptic-Liquid-200/dp/B001E1B7G0>

which redirects to

<https://r.brandreward.com/?key=a5a61717dddc3501cfdf7a4e22d7dbaa&url=https://www.amazon.co.uk/TCP-Original-Antiseptic-Liquid-200/dp/B001E1B7G0>

Which attempts to redirect to amazon, but it fails, so somebody is
presumably paying for search ranking then pissing away all the clicks
without monetizing them :-)

Anyway the link can be shortened to

<https://amazon.co.uk/TCP-Antiseptic/B001E1B7G0>

My search key was "tcp", little letters, no quotes. The top two
responses were the lines inside the lines of asterisks.

Only a complete numpty could think that the *first* response was the
item searched for.

Incidentally, my Wicked-Pee says it's made in France, not Belgium:

"TCP is a mild antiseptic, produced in France by Laboratoires
Chemineau in Vouvray and sold in the United Kingdom by Omega Pharma."

I know that from a USAlien perspective there is only NYNY, suburbs of
NYNY such as LA, Chcago and Ohio and "furrin parts" that are some sort
of swampy area where soldiers go to fight the still-Un-American
natives but to us primitives, Belgium and France ain't the same.

Though, it is true, during History, some parts of both have
"belonged" to some kings of either. That's moot, really as some parts
of both have also "belonged" to some kings of bits of England, too.

Yurp is a complex place with layers of stories millennia deep. Hell,
even UKland has a long history going back several tens of millennia.

In case any USAlien is still reading, "several tens of millennia" is
slightly longer than the time between today and the beginning of
USAlien history in 2001.

Using Ixquick (Startpage), I don't get the Amozon linkie until way
down the list. Medicines.org.uk is the first hit I get. The Amazon
page selling the goop works for me.

Maybe it's a regionalisation thingy? Not sellable in USAlia or
something?

Oh, sorry. I should read all of a thread before pouncing.

That linkie wouldn't get past my security add-ons. Redirects are
often blocked, especially from annoying sites like Doubleclick.

I think "Brandreward" is another one my browser dislikes.

You don't need click any links to see what TCP is, which is the point. If
you do want to click a link there are others which work just fine. FTR all
the links work for me. So it's either regional or setup issue with you
which I cannot control.

When my dad passed a couple years ago, I was left to clean up all his
"things". He was a pack rat, and was also in the demolition business.
In his shop, he had pallet after pallet of partially used paints, oils,
grease and everything hazardous under the sun. He actually had a 55
gallon drum of Isopropl 99 stuck in a corner. I about shit. Most of it
was bad enough, but this was like having a bomb sitting in the corner of
the building. It cost me a small fortune to get rid of all the contents
by a legitimate recycling and disposal firm. But as I was slowly
selling some of the other "junk" he had "collected", a man asked about
it. I told him I would give it to him for free if he could use it. He
was a painter and was ecstatic about his lucky find as it was a perfect
cleaner for the metal things he worked on. No residue he explained. I
couldn't believe my luck in finding the one guy who could take that bomb
off my hands. I loaded it in his truck and prayed he got to wherever he
was going without getting in a wreck.

I'll bet he was very pleased! This site is selling it for $575.49;

Missed my point completely. If you claim Google, or any online search
engine, will find what you claim is discoverable then provide the URL
for the search results showing your claim is true.

I've seen lots of respondents say, "Google it", without a clue if their
suggestion works. They didn't try their suggestion, or they gave a
generic search string with no check on the results.

Guess politeness has died.

I don't remember exactly how much the disposal company wanted, but it
was more to dispose of it than it was to purchase it new. I was just
glad to get this out of the shop because it was so dangerous in a
quantity like that.

Materials like plasterboard (aka sheetrock) have reached that point over
here, my walls must be very dangerous ...

Nice try to reinterpret what actually happened. You said you couldn't do
an internet search for TCP. I quote:

> I cannot lookup whatever is the TCP to which you refer. An online
search is obviously going to predominately find articles about
Transmission Control Protocol in networking.

At no point did I tell you to google anything. You chose to do a search
for "TCP" on your own. It was only when you claimed you couldn't find
the correct "TCP" - without apparently even trying - that I told you to
improve your searching skills.

It's basic knowledge. If a google search provides too many unrelated
hits then you add more search criteria to improve the hits.

Are you aware of the '+' and '-' qualifiers to hone the search even
more? For example "TCP +antiseptic" will force google ONLY hits which
include "antiseptic", and "TCP -network" will return hits NOT INCLUDING
"network".

> Guess politeness has died.

I guess NNTP isn't for you.

the minus flag is true, the plus flag has not been true for at least a
decade.

It reminds me of when a tree in my garden fell into a neighbour's garden
in a storm. The tree surgeon charged me £300 for a few hours of
chain-sawing and loading onto his wagon.
I later found out that he'd sold the wood down the road.

I played dumb to see if you, or others, could be prodded to be polite
instead of the push-off rude retort of "Google it". And then you were
rude again by using the "how to use Google" site instead of actually
providing the search URL.

BTW, I've been around a lot longer than has Google.

> At no point did I tell you to google anything.

You: "You need to learn how to google better."

> It's basic knowledge. If a google search provides too many unrelated
> hits then you add more search criteria to improve the hits.

Yep, and you knew that, too, and eventually did provide the search URL.

https://www.google.com/search?q=tcp%20antiseptic
134,000 hits

https://www.google.com/search?q=tcp%20trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl%20antiseptic
835 hits

The more on-target search criteria, the more focused the search results.
Obviously I didn't know the TCP meant trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl,
but you must because you use the stuff.

https://www.google.com/search?q=tcp%20trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl%20antiseptic%20omega%20pharma
1010 hits

Adding more search criteria doesn't always narrow the search, so finding
the magic elixir of terms determines if the hits are relevant to you.

I already knew how do do Google searches, and why I replied "Nope" to
your "hope you learned something [about Google]". You didn't tell me
anything I didn't already know. I did manage to get you to provide a
better search URL instead of a vague claim that it could be found via
Google. My plan worked. You proved you knew better search criteria.

> Are you aware of the '+' and '-' qualifiers to hone the search even
> more? For example "TCP +antiseptic" will force google ONLY hits which
> include "antiseptic", and "TCP -network" will return hits NOT INCLUDING
> "network".

You haven't used Google for long enough to know which operators were
discarded. Again, you didn't even bother trying the search criteria you
claim should work. Go ahead, try it by searching on "TCP -networking".

https://www.google.com/search?q=tcp%20-networking
102,000,000 results

Just as bad as using:

https://www.google.com/search?q=tcp
104,000,000 results

Even Wikipedia has their disambiguation page at:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TCP

showing 25 candidates, because "TCP" is not sufficiently unique to
ensure landing on page about trichlorophenylmethyliodosalicyl.

Yes, Google still lists operators in their search help pages that they
no longer support, or have become lazy in enforcement. Used to be + or
double-quotes would ensure the word or phrase was included in every hit
of a search, but Google killed that, so a search has hits that have no
mention of the include criteria. Then the exclude qualifier (-) has
been pretty much killed. You get a slightly different mix of hits with
and without the exclude criteria, but, again, you get hits that still
have the criteria that you wanted to exclude. That's why it has become
even more critical to provide the magic elixir in search criteria that
well focuses on what you claim Google can find. You already know what
you are searching for. Don't assume that of others.

Used to be, after Google acquired Deja News, that no account was needed
to search Google's archive. Then a URL do to a Google Groups search
would fail, because direct URLs were no longer allowed, and you had to
use their landing web page to do the search, or simply redo the search
that failed when you landed at groups.google.com. Now they require you
have a Google account, have to login, before they'll do the search. I'm
talking about searching the Google Groups Usenet archive, not their
webcrawling search engine.

Used to be you could look at the raw source of a Usenet article (3-dot
menu -> Show original message). Then Google would expire them from that
feature, and you couldn't see the headers, anymore. Now, regardless of
age, the "Show original messages" is disabled, so you cannot see the
headers of a message. Just another step in Google killing the Usenet
archive.

>> Guess politeness has died.

Been here before 1992 (and before the Web took off in 1994), got way too
busy at work around 1996, came back 2 years later, and have been here
off and on since. I remember using dial-up to AOL back around 1984 when
I bought an IBM PC/AT via scheduled payments through my employer, and
think it was about 2 years later when I discovered Usenet. Back then,
there were no GUI NNTP clients, so I went into a shell to run a console
client, but way to long for me to remember which client. Back then
users were using MS/IBM-DOS. It was later when I moved to Windows 286
(c.1987), but despite a GUI OS most programs were still ran in a DOS
shell.

Notice my Organization header (yeah, a bit of ego stroking). I was in
Usenet many years before Google existed, saw Deja News show up in 1995,
and Google swallowed up Deja News in 2001 (which blended and condounded
the Usenet archive with the Google Groups web forums, and gradually
fucked up the searching by eliminating operators, like "author:<nym>"
which was handy to see a history of a poster along with the number of
their posts). I was using my ISP's Usenet service until they found an
excuse to drop it (some Attorney General threatening ISPs with providing
Usenet service due to kiddie porn). Back then the Usenet providers
added an NNTP-Posting-Host header which shows the IP address for the
client that submitted to the server, and helped to block trolls (for
awhile, but eventually becomes irrelevant since most users get a dynamic
IP address), but gradually they dropped that header to make posters more
anonymous. Some added an account-specific header that identified which
account at the Usenet provider was used for submission, and that could
be used to track trolls, but the Usenet providers dropped that one, too.
I paid Giganews for awhile. Found Albasani by Bartolich (died in Jul
2012 of a cardiac event) which was free, well maintained, and was very
responsive to problem reports. Found Eternal-September. Both ES and
Albasani had occasional problems or outages, so I bounced between them.
I gave up on Eternal-September, Albasani was in limbo a couple years and
died, AIOE has always sucked, so I decided to go with a paid service
(individual.net).

You're a newbie here. I'm an old fart here. I first started with my
legal name; however, it was not unique, so back when the "author:"
operator was still usable for Google Groups searches (which had no way
to differentiate between their forums and Usenet archive) searching on
my name would confound me with lots of other similary-named posters. I
switched to my gamer nym Vanguard (in the Thief forums) which was okay
until I hit a newsgroup where someone already used that nym. I was
polite in not stepping on his nym, and postfixed the "LH". At first, I
used a space, as in " LH", but Google searches still found the other
Vanguard poster. I tried added a period, as in ".LH", and underscore,
as in "_LH", but Google search discards non-alphanumeric characters, and
treats Vanguard and LH as separate words. So, I smooshed them together
into VanguardLH, and that has been unique.

Back when Microsoft was still providing NNTP servers for their
microsoft.* newsgroups, I got offered a nomination as an MVP. I
politely declined since that would crimp my style. I'd have to be nice
too often. After Microsoft dumped Usenet (c.2010) under the ruse that
an NNTP server was no longer bundled as of Windows Server 2008 (c.2008),
and they refused to use anyone else's NNTP server program, the MVPs also
abandoned Usenet and migrated to Microsoft's Answer web-based forums.
There were more noobs in the forums than in Usenet. Were you ever
nominated as a MVP? Were you here before Microsoft left Usenet? Where
you here when Google acquired Deja News, or here when Deja News started?
Were you here in the days of AOL dial-up?

I've had the stamina to be here for well over 3 decades. I've endured.
Wonder how long you will survive here.

You can't slice them up (for small jobs) to put in the trash? Or
contract a dumpster during construction? Here the sheetrock can go into
landfills. Your choice how you get it there. Some places prefer to
recycle it, like to use the gypsum as a soil conditioner. You could
donate it to a local Habitat for Humanity. Presumably if you have full
unused sheets, you would return it to the store for a refund.

As for IPA (99%), it is flammable. So is 70% isopropal alcohol.
However, both can burn controllably, like when used with a wick as a
candle or burner (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_burner). The
vapor explodes, not the liquid.

Looks like Sticks had to get a specialty hauler for hazardous materials,
like for flammables. It's a bitch not having a truck or trailer to take
the stuff to a hazardous drop-off site (if you have one in your area).
Quite often "hazardous" is not just about flammability, but also about
environmental impact in a land fill (e.g., oil-based and non-solidified
latex paints, but solidified latex here can be put in the home trash or
recycled).

Sticky must not have a fire pit; else, he could've used the IPA to
ignite his campfires, or just burn off the IPA alone in a fire pit, but
that could be a long time waiting around to monitor the burn while
adding more after burn completes. Here you are allowed open fires, but
need a permit if more than 3 feet for height and diameter. You can use
a fire pit provided it meets building codes, but some areas don't have
any for fire pits. All you need is a fire ring.

As for flammability concerns, hell, even flour will explode if dispersed
into an airborne dust cloud hence silo explosions. I doubt the
55-gallon barrel of IPA had its lid removed to allow for a vapor cloud
to waft around to find a flame source. No mention how long this IPA had
been stored, and Sticky might not know. Over time when exposed to
air/oxygen (there would be some inside a partially filled drum),
isopropyl alcohol will form unstable peroxides, and why IPA is not
compatible with oxiding agents (peroxides, percholates, nitrates,
chlorine, bromine, etc).

The liquid is flammable (it burns). It would be a cloud of vapor that
explodes. What might've been inside Sticky's shop that had a flame for
the vapor to find if the barrel was opened or leaking? To get the IPA
out of the barrel, presumably a pump was attached, not Sticky tipping
over the barrel to pour out a hole. I store gasoline in my shed, and
moved to the garage during winter, for use with my lawn mower and snow
blower. Haven't had one explode yet despite I park my car in the
garage. The vapor would have to find an open flame. When I use a
kerosene torpedo heater in the garage, yep, the gas can comes out.
Maybe Sticky's shop has a space heater.

Why do you need others to provide you with a search URL? Why aren't you
able to do searches yourself?

playing dumb isn't very polite.

Nope. Using it doesn't require knowing what it stands for. That was the
