I should have known better. "Wards" was just the name I always knew
Montgomery Wards by.

I was never at one of these huge Wards stores, but I liked the ones in the
malls. Lowes carries Craftsman tools now, but they're just a division of
Stanley Black & Decker. Both also once good "made in U.S.A." companies
themselves, but no longer so (not the case with Craftsman any more either,
don't think). When I lived in Maryland as a kid there was a Black & Decker
factory nearby, I think in Hamstead.

I guess Stanley Black & Decker now also owns DeWalt and Proto (among others).

Since I can't speak out too obviously against this in my own workplace
(I'm surrounded by Marxist women, though less so than I used to be), I
_can_ refuse to let the Marxist propagandists enter my classroom to
condition the children. I don't even have to explain myself because I
can claim that there's a test that day. In reality, I just don't want
that trash in my room because I _will_ stick around and I _will_
aggressively debate them and prove my points with links. You don't ever
want to debate me face to face because I become very intense. My
tolerance for absolutely bullshit is incredibly low and I've been known
to tell professors that certain theories were stupid even back in
university.

A lot of words have been "skunked" (if by "skunked" you mean their meaning
has shifted). Gay is one of them. I had a teacher in college (old already in
the mid 70s) who insisted on using the word "gay" in its traditional sense.
He didn't like that it had been appropriated to mean homosexual.

If you're going to use the English language you're going to have to get used
to words taking on new meanings. Just the way it works.

It can't get much stupider than some delusional nit telling you that men can
have babies. And yet, in some places you can be fired from your job for
stating that fact — and, in one country at least (one of the Nordic ones),

That's the Dell on my desktop at the office. We have good
UPSes, with UPS-protected power delivered to offices at standard
power outlets.

Last time I rebooted it was when I was at the office,
haven't gotten around to going back yet. (Pandemic changed
everything.)

But I still use it, including running
X clients. But it might as well have been a
headless system these past few years.

Low utilization does help to not 'stress' a machine .. my old Xeon Workstation is
getting creaky and is occasionally throwing a random corruption in the mix. I assume
its probably either an OS memory leak, or dying RAM, as a reboot promptly fixes it, as the
hardware is now sufficiently aged that it isn't worth too much of a 'repair' investment.

Started, then went on strike on November 23rd all the way to the
Christmas break. We still haven't voted to accept the government's
proposal or not, that happens on Friday. I imagine our benevolent union
leaders will tell us that the offer is awful and that we should continue
to lose money until we get some fantabulous offer, but I doubt people
are as willing to go without eating as they used to be.

Yeah, it was definitely an eye-opening experience. I understood that the
reason I didn't get such slowdowns was because I was constantly on the
computer and doing my updates like the good little muppet I was. I was
also consistently performing disk scans and system file checks to keep
everything in order. Other people weren't as obsessive, and that's why
they kept getting a slug of an operating system. I knew that the only
way out, on the PC side, was Linux.

I saw the first one. I remember nothing about it. Meanwhile, good movies
like Watchmen or Gladiator, I can tell you what happens in each scene
and what order they come in. I was never a fan of Marvel movies and to
this day consider the first two Superman movies written by Mario Puzo,
Watchmen and the Batman Begins trilogy as they only comic book-related
movies anyone should bother to see.

Since my wife and I have different taste in film, I have to watch this
shit on my own anyway. Like I wrote in a previous post, it's historical
epics, apocalyptic movies and documentaries for me. She and I only agree

I refuse to use the word "gay" to refer to homosexuals. They're either

Now who's "triggered?"

Yeah, the woke left is book banning, canceling social accounts, getting
people fired, getting people put in prison. Happens every day. Drag queen
"readings" (grooming bullshit) should DEFINITELY be canceled when forced on
young kids. "Unwanted pregnancies" involve a human being who will be killed.
"Dangerous pregnancies" (i.e., a life for a life) are not opposed, never

Despite what he writes it doesn't appear he has completely fallen for it.
The real "Woke" are actually delusional enough to try to defend the asinine
claim that men can have babies. He knows this is so stupid that he won't
touch it, instead he sidesteps the issue. So he's not completely driven by
unthinking emotion, there is still some logical reasoning somewhere in his
brain.

Agreed. I usually use the neutral (and accurate) term, homosexual. "Gay"
when used for "homosexual" is an agenda word.

As for "Woke" the Woke were proud of that word, until people found that
those who used it regularly found to be screeching "Karens." And no, this
was not a "black-only" thing, Chris.

Musk found closets stocked with "Stay Woke" t-shirts at Twitter when he

It's pretty pathetic that someone would accuse me of misusing a word that
was widely "misused" and identified with by the proponents of Woke bullshit.
It is telling, however, that they're now trying to back away from the word.
The word has become odious to the majority of Americans — the word they once
proud of wearing on their clothes has now become a pejorative to them. Oh
well, live with it.

song "Big Bad John") where Bruce was a homosexual hair dresser.
