You seem to have a distorted view of inmate safety in US prisons. I
refer you to the June 2021 report by the United States Sentencing
Commission entitled "Federal Sentencing of Child Pornography
Non-Production Offenses"

The report tracked 1093 offenders who were released in 2015. There is no
figure given for those incarcerated in 2015 but there is for 2019 when
1340 were incarcerated.

This suggests a roughly equal rate of incarceration and release. It does
not suggest a "very very high chance of dying in prison".
