Still not green. I make the changes to userContent.css, save, close. The
toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets is set to True. TB
and the system is restarted after each change.
My user.Content.css now looks like this:

@namespace xul
"http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul";
@namespace html "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";
..moz-text-plain, .moz-text-flowed, .moz-text-html {
font-size: 10pt !important;
color: green!
} The userContent.css is placed here:
/home/raspberrypi/.thunderbird/3gxp1hxj.default-default/storage/permanent/chrome

I take this as an exercise, so please don't let this take your sleep
away :-)

I have heard some complaints about my version, Bookworm, of the
Raspberrypi OS, so it maybe could be causing trouble here too.

Best regards

Jesper and Jesper Kaas are posted from different set-ups.
The latter is Unicode under TBird; the former Forte Agent.

Forte Agent can only use Unicode under Win10 and later; and even then it
needs special installing.

If you click on

Help / Troubleshooting Info

scroll down to

Profile Folder and click Open Folder

is your chrome folder containing .css file directly within it?

I think it's the wrong place. Should be
/home/raspberrypi/.thunderbird/3gxp1hxj.default-default/chrome

The profile folder that opened with Andys instructions is the one Frank
says it should be.
When i search for the chrome-folder I found it 2 steps further down, the
place you see in the beginning of this message.
So do you think I should try to move the chrome-folder to the place that
I get to when clicking "Open folder" besides the label "Profile folder" ?

Yes. But better don't move it. Create a new folder "chrome" as a direct
subfolder of your profile (on the same level as "storage").

I must admit to be a novice in linux. I tried to copy the chrome folder
via the file explorer as I would have done in Windows. It seems to be
possible only to move files that way, not a folder. So I searched for
how to do it from terminal and tried this command from .../.thunderbird:
cp -r 3gxp1hxj.default-default/storage/permanent/chrome
/3gxp1hxj.default-default
....and got this error messsage:
cp: klarte ikke å opprette mappa '/3gxp1hxj.default-default': Ikke tilgang
The norwegian means it could not create the folder. No access.
So I tried to put a SUDO in fromt of the same command. Now there is no
error message, but the chrome folder is not copied.
Go figure :-)

Don't *copy* it! Let's recall it step by step.

- Completely close Thunderbird
- Open the profile folder in a file manager. (Your profile seems to be
located at "/home/raspberrypi/.thunderbird/3gxp1hxj.default-default/")
- *Right there* you create a folder named "chrome" if it isn't already there.
- *In* this folder create a plaintext file named "userChrome.css"
(Use exactly this upper- and lower-case naming for folder and file!)
- This text file you fill with the following:

@namespace xul
"http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul";
@namespace html "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml";

..moz-text-plain, .moz-text-flowed, .moz-text-html {
font-size: 30pt !important;
}

- Save this file and start Thunderbird.

At last I got it working. I spent some time working on it Without
closing TB, and that probably made it impossible to establish the
userContent.css in the right place. But after closing TB it went smooth.
I created the userContent.css and copied the content in. Retarted TB,
and there you go, in whatever color or fontsize I want. So it works now!
Thank you very much :-)

*sigh* finally! ;-) If this little guidance didn't work for you i would
have been out of ideas.

> I spent some time working on it Without closing TB,

Not a good idea in cases like this. Configuration files like userContent.css
or userChrome.css are loaded by Thunderbird only at startup.

You're welcome.

And a friendly advice from me: you say you're a novice in Linux. If you try
to do some file operations in a file manager like moving, copying, deleting
and it fails with an error message you don't really understand. Don't blindly
use the terminal (especially with "sudo"!).
There are lots of faulty hints, tips, tutorials out there (especially on YouTube)
which are simply wrong, bullshit or destructive for your system. Try to figure
out and understand what this terminal commands will produce.

I mould leave that one alone, just create another chrome folder where
it's expected.
