Next time you post here include your browser's version number and the
operating system the floor is using. We further need to know if the
floor is oak or something else.

I have used bee-wax on small areas , like where
furniture leaves scab marks.
My floor (Sucupira iron wood) was done with
2-component paint around 1980.

Sorry about the post, it was suppose to go to the woodworking group.
It was in some ways corrected it was about softwear on hard wood.

Add RAM. You can never go wrong with that. :)

You have 3 basic choices.

1) Sand the whole floor and refinish.

2) Sand the worn section, then apply a light stain to
match the existing floor, poly that spot, hope for the best.
(Any stain should be oil-based and thinned out.)

3) Wash the floor with a mild TSP solution or
ammonia. No soap. Wipe down the floor with sanding liquid.
(You have to use the good stuff, with methylene chloride. The
newer, safer stuff, is consistently useless in my experience.
There's a good product in a yellow can, but I don't remember
the name.)

After wiping down (wear a carbon filter mask) apply
thinned out stain if necessary, then repoly 2 coats. You can
do the whole floor or just the given area. Whichever works.
But doing only that spot will show at least a different sheen.
If you have wide boards then you might be able to only
do specific boards. If you have maple or oak I'm assuming
it's narrow boards.

That all assumes oil-based polyurethane. I haven't worked
with water-based on floors. The sanding liquid would be
unnecessary but fine sanding might be needed. Sanding liquid
softens the finish. If you poly over old poly it's like
painting plastic. Later it will peel like a sunburn. The sanding
liquid makes it like the last coat of poly was yesterday. The
new coat will stick. You get about 30 minutes from wiping
until you need to poly that section.

With brands there's a lot of variation. For example, Benj
Moore poly is thin and soft. The best I know of, especially
for floors, is Zar. (The solids content can vary quite a bit.)

Of course, if you live in California then you probably can't
buy any of the products I listed and will only be allowed
to buy products that are safe for a 3-year-old to eat. In
that case I'd suggest a throw rug.

We are NOTHING if not generalists!

I have found that it is sometimes good to ask questions in OT groups
simply because those groups are inhabited by smart people who actually
know how to do shit.

Or, you could have been one of those people who actually realized
knuttle obviously posted it to the wrong group and simply ignored it.

Don't hijack someone else's thread. Start a new thread in a related
newsgroup. Firefox to where you attempted to redirect replies (instead
of to the Windows newsgroups) is not relevant to your inquiry. Start a
new thread (and keep it there!) in a newsgroup for the OS you intend to
use, or in a hardware newsgroup.

Since you specify no criteria on what you will run or how you will use
your new build, no one can tell you if it is a poor, sufficient, or
excessive build. You need to establish your criteria, and then you'll
already have the means to judge if your proposed build is bad, mediocre,
or excellent, and perhaps for how long it will remain so. If you're
just going to use a text editor, your proposed build is extremely
excessive. If you're going to do video editing or generate animated
movies, your build is woefully underpowered.

For example, why are you considering an AMD CPU that is 2 series back in
the Zen series for a new build (i.e., Zen 2 instead of Zen 4)? Are you
designing a build that will be replaced in 3 years, or less, or last for
8 years, or more? If budget is a restraining factor, why not upgrade
your old build instead of spending on a middling new build?

By the way, use of FollowUp-To is rude. I restored the original set of
newsgroups in the Newsgroups header in my reply despite your inquiry is
off-topic to the Firefox newsgroup.

Cross-posting to more than 3 newsgroups is excessive. I keep all
newsgroups for this reply, but will trim if I participate later.

Yes. Buy a box of brownie mix. I like Duncan Hines, but I don't know
if that's available in Europe. The generic stuff from Aldi is also
good. No need to use the whole box, it's possible to make single
servings. You'll have to adjust the amounts and timing yourself, but
the concept itself is pretty simple.

Put some brownie mix in a microwaveable dish. Add some walnuts. Add
just enough water to make a paste. Nuke it.

If it still runs you can use it for hot fudge sauce for ice cream.

Don't thank me, I'm here to help.

The PC shop guy told me that Notepad will run faster on new machine so I
decided to build my own. Also, he told me that Facebook, twitter and
other social sites runs better on new systems. I also like watching porn
videos and so a bigger hard disk is better for storing all those videos.
You can get really hard dick with bigger hard disks.

Without followup-to you can't post to these newsgroups. They are
rejected by the news-server.

You are a very kind man and a very helpful one on these newsgroups. Are there
any new porn videos that we should be aware of in these newsgroups? i
know you'll have many sites in your bookmarks. You can share them here.

Please stop setting the followup-to. It is rude (and what you say is false).

And you are setting it up to a group where your question is offtopic.

I forgot to mention that in all likelihood you'll have to eat it out of
the dish with a spoon. I like the little black plastic dishes that
Trader Joe's Lava Cakes (way overpriced, but very good -- I bought those
for my birthday cake) come in provide a single serving without bruising
your conscience too much.
