Has anyone tried this?
I'd go right ahead but the first thing it asks for on installation is
email address and password.

Wow! I did some googling and this version of Tbird has been around for
some time. So I installed it.

The thing that first sickened me about Tbird115 has been thoroughly
removed in Bbird115; ie the barrier between message pane and threads
list in Classic View. You can just lift it away with Bbird.

There is a more "spaced-out" general appearance, but somehow I feel the
editors here are on my side.

Strange thing.
Bbird's latest is 115.4.0-bb16 (64-bit)
whereas Tbird is still on 15.3.3 (64-bit)

Now then, this reeks of the add-on for smaller headers in Tbird, with
forward-compatibility (maybe predicted by the Delphic oracle,
re-harnessed since emperor Theodosius banned it; or possibly the result
of some collaboration or nepotism.).

It's not so much the features.
I appreciate the fact that the Betterbird developers make a concerted
effort to fix bugs much quicker than the Thunderbird team does.
You can see the details at the Release Notes link I posted.
You can also see why they don't always follow the Thunderbird releases.

"Q: Why is there no Betterbird 115.4.1 release?
A: Thunderbird trashed their release 115.4.0 to back out a new feature
(context menu of "Get Messages" button) for no good reason and created
release 115.4.1. Of course we're not following that."

No, "Compact Headers".

I like that it's normally minimal, but you get a twisty to enlarge it
and see all (or normal) headers.

I actually migrated using the profile manager. Some plugins don't work
though.

You can get rid of it, put it back any size, with just a mouse click and
push/drag. No add-on, hard-coded.
Another good thing is that when an email with HTML arrives, it opens the
header a sliver, just enough to show clickable options. Now, this latter
lets me know there's a good mind behind it.

That happens when you upgrade from 102 to 115. Uninstall them and then
reinstall them after a restart of BB.

I experimented with BB but I prefer TB. BB for Mac is not really up to
speed. Litterally.
