Hi everyone,

I was curious if there is any data regarding the adoption rate of DICOMweb as opposed to DIMSE-based operations. Do most vendors support DICOMweb at this point? Are there preferences for one over the other? I'm particularly interested in the digital pathology area, but anywhere across the DICOM space would be interesting.

Thanks!

Hi Chris,

DICOMWeb is emerging as the go-to-standard for cloud connections. Especially with the many AI cloud based algorithms, this will become more and more popular. In addition, for any web acces such as the launch of viewers in an EMR or from mobile devices stand-alone, DICOMWeb is preferrable. I have not seen any modality to PACS and/or VNA connections using DICOMweb yet. So, for pathology, I would assume that most devices (scanners) will stick to DIMSE as well.
