The attribute Device UID (0018,1002) is defined as "Unique identifier of the equipment that produced the Composite Instances."

Is this meant to uniquely identify a single device (a concrete CT scanner) or is it legitimate to use it to identify a class of devices (all CT scanners of a specific type and version)?

If the first one is true: is there any relationship between Device UID (0018, 1002) and the Device UDI as stored in UDI Sequence (0018,100A)?

Instance not class.

No. One is a UID and the other has a format defined by the regulators.

That said, nobody ever uses Device UID.

David
