Since comp.lang.mumps is a Usenet group and Google Groups is dropping support of Usenet groups (https://support.google.com/groups/answer/11036538), we have a few choices as a group.

- Do nothing. Individuals can drop off, sign up with a Usenet service provider, or run their own UUCP node (as I did in 1989 with my first home computer; I wouldn't today, and don't recommend it for most people).
- Start a MUMPS Google Group. However, I would recommend against this as well, since Google has understaffed Google Groups for years, and supposedly don't support their newest search features on Google Groups. I would not be surprised if they put Google Groups on the chopping block a few years hence..
- Add non-YottaDB discussion channels to the YottaDB Discord server. The server has moderators who are part of YottaDB as well as not part of YottaDB.
- Create a MUMPS group on a site like Freelists (https://freelists.org). I am willing to create a group and be a moderator if at least one non-YottaDB person volunteers to be a fellow-moderator.
- Something else.

There's not much traffic in this group anymore. In my opinion we should move to the discord-channel.

I would prefer a neutral site like Google Groups rather than a vendor site. comp.lang.mumps has had such a long life, and it will continue to exist even if another group is created elsewhere. I've been exploring various NNTP/Newsgroup readers/clients. There are some free and paid choices, but not a lot. I'm curious what others have been using if not Google and how they rate it.

I use Eternal September (http://www.eternal-september.org/) as my NNTP
provider and slrn (https://slrn.info/) as my client. Works great! Still
much better than any web-based forums, and Discord (aside from being
proprietary) is way too transitory; it's much closer to IRC than
newsgroups.

I've got a UNIX account (panix.com) that I SSH into and use a Usenet newsreader
