Hello,
Older browsers, such as Netscape 7 and some older versions of Firefox,
had the ability to visit Gopher sites. However, these have been removed.
While there's a plugin for it (OverbiteFF), it doesn't work, and the
pages get stuck loading permanently.
Are there any other plugins that allow access to Gopher or do I have to
find another way?
Thank you

Have you tried simple overbite?
http://gopher.floodgap.com/overbite/d?ff38 works here on SM 2.42 and any
problems with SM 2.53.17 might be fixable, there are people here who
understand the extensions.
There's also the gopher proxy, also hosted at floodgap,
https://gopher.floodgap.com/gopher/ there's also a list of clients
accessible from that page.

OverbiteFF requires a small change to account for a change in arity. Two
parameters wre removed (in InputStreamPump?) and OverbiteFF still has
the two extra parameters.

Something similar to
https://hg.mozilla.org/chatzilla/rev/75c8c75015bc5afdf7930a834f599fe1c04f6eca

I have it working locally (I lazily removed the two -1 arguments in the
call to "this._pump.init" in components/protocol.js, line 1255, instead
of making the extension work in both cases).
