Note how libixion and liborcus, which are responsible for alien
spreadsheet imports, like Microslop Exhell, have caused libreoffice
to be rebuilt.

How much time was required for this wondrous feat?

I cannot ascertain.

I drank a two big cups of Carlo Rossi Merlot, got on my treadmill,
and ran two miles on a 10 degree slope. When I was finished, it was
all over.

Note also all those fucking python modules. I don't use that junk
but something else pulls it in. With python, one requires a separate
module just to convert a character from lower space to upper case.

Gentoo is for REAL GNU/Linux users.

All the phonies use Ubuntu/Mint/Arch/Fedora.

A few years ago I installed OpenSuse Tumbleweed, a rolling distro. These
were the update counts:

Day 0: install

Day 12: "You have 404 new updates"
"Successfully updated 404 packages"

Day 20: "You have 618 new updates"
"Successfully updated 618 packages"

That's 1022 updates in 20 days = 51 per day = insanity

In high school we would do shots and drink whiskey and gin and vokda
straight from the bottle, 'cause we were 17 and drinking was so cool.
Drinking didn't help our skateboarding, though, which we were all
serious about.

I've tried for decades to find a wine that tastes good. I've probably
tried 30 wines. In Napa CA I went to several wineries and did tastings,
and virtually every bit of the swill was disgusting.

The closest I got to a palatable one was a plum wine (because it was
sweet). But I gave up on wine many years ago.

Beer is so good. Hot day, cold day, with or without food, doesn't
matter. Not all beers, of course. Best beer I ever had was at a Hotel
Schweizer Stuben in Germany - guess it was a house brand.

I'm kinda glad Feeb can't program worth a crap. I can only imagine the

Last time he showed up, he had five versions of python on his computer.
So yes, he is unable to clean and to manage what he had installed. For
something bloated like Ubuntu or Mint, you can have a lot of useless
things without really knowing why it's there. But for light distros like
Gentoo or Arch there is no reason except the inability of its owner.

You are insane if you use something you don't want. If you have a
rolling version, it's to be up to date with everything. So if you have
installed Firefox which does a version every day, you'll have an update
every day. But if you are using wget or curl which didn't really evolved
anymore, you'll have very few updates.

So if you want a rolling distro with new applications improving very
fast, you'll have a lot of updates. But it's your choice. If you want
old versions of your applications, you use something like Debian or Red
Hat.

If you can't know why you chose your distro, it's normal it doesn't suit
your needs. But it doesn't mean others don't have different needs.

The best brands of beer are the little ones unknown outside.

No, he wouldn't. He insults everyone because he's bad and not confident.
There is a strong correlation between mediocrity and insults. The best
guys I saw at work and in sport where never insulting and where always
ready to help other's progress. The worst ones I saw, unable to manage
anything where always the ones insulting others and blaming their
mediocrity on others.

It's not insanity in that the operating system is made up of thousands
of packages which are all in constant evolution. However, it is certain
that you essentially faced 1,022 potential breakages in the system
because any of them might have updated to a version which would have
made other things incompatible. That's why I'm a proponent of Flatpak; I
don't want my software to be dependent on packages used by other
applications. I've lived in that world and it's shit.

Try a Linux system where all or most of your applications are Flatpaks.
I doubt you'll face any kind of issues even years later. If Excel
compatibility is so important to you, I am getting the feeling that the
open-source OnlyOffice will provide you with what you're looking for.

It is peculiar that he listed them twice.

sort(1) has a "-u" (unique) option that fixes this.
