If anyone did like myself and wrote the YOUTUBE-DL help file to disk and then when YT-DLP came out just
kept using the old help file from YOUTUBE-DL,

The YT-DLP help file is about twice as big. (I have not checked for differences)

(Windows 7 emulator command "YT-DLP -h > ytdlphelp.txt" )

Where can I get the ytdlphelp.txt file? Github is too confusing.

Demonstrators worldwide are demanding that Israel stop
fighting in Gaza. Why does it seem that no one is demanding
that Hamas stop fighting? And where are the demonstrations
against Russia fighting in the Ukraine.

You can create it yourself.

Run yt-dlp.exe (or whatever you've called it) with the -h argument to see its
help file on screen. Now redirect that help output to a file, as follows.

prompt> yt-dlp.exe -h >yt-dlp_help.txt

The result is a text file, in the current directory, because we didn't
explicitly add a path that places it somewhere else, called yt-dlp_help.txt.

You can name the text file however you'd like, but I'd keep the .txt extension
since it's just a simple text file. Open it with Notepad, for example, to browse
its contents.

I am running Windows 7 x64. I have yt-dlp as downloaded and installed
by ClipGrab. Notice that it does NOT have .exe as a file extension. I
tried the following without success:
yt-dlp -h
yt-dlp /?
help yt-dlp
I also tried renaming it as yt-dlp.exe, also without success.

Finally, I downloaded yt-dlp_win.zip and unzipped it to get a Windows
version of yt-dlp.exe. Success!!

Looks like CHAR gave you a complete answer. Happy downloading. Having looked at several downloaders
"like" YT-DLP, it, IMO, is the best because of its flexibility due to a double armload of argument
options. I think the fact that it is a natively commandline program scares some people who are used to
a GUI interface.
I was looking at it this morning and used this argument --
--write-auto-subs Write automatically generated subtitle file.
Which it did nicely and if it is a video with the a formal subtitle file it will write it as a .vtt file
which works fine in VLC, or you can use another argument to write it to your preferred subtitle format.

Yes, it has indeed many options. But also, it usually works fine without
the need to invoke any (other than the URL of course!).

That's the one argument I do use. Well, I use --write-subs normally (if
I want subtitles), as that generally gives better ones; it's only if
there aren't any (i. e. that doesn't work) that I insert the -auto.

(Normally as I said I don't use _any_ parameters other than the URL.)

Despite its name, yt-dlp (which, incidentally, you can rename: I've just
renamed it to y.exe) works on most pages with a video in them, not just
YouTube.
