There used to be an old Version 4 of Turbocad, 2d only renamed Learning
Edition and put out by IMSI as a free intoductory program. It famously
worked well on Wine (about the only thing that did IME).

I can't find the download any more and I have some old files I need to
open. Anyone know where it is or if it is still available?

Thanks All I found it

Some nice guy is keeping it available.

Free TurboCAD LE (Learning Edition)

TurboCAD LE (Learning Edition) is largely based on TurboCAD v4 and has
been around for a very long time. You will find it to run unreliably, if
at all, on the latest Windows from XP to 10. TurboCAD LE runs best on
Windows 95 and 98. This is good news for Linux users using Wine –
TurboCAD LE is a "Platinum Rated" app, it runs on Linux using WineHQ.
TurboCAD LE is NOT supported to any extent by IMSI/Design. I am
providing it as a free download (about 16.1 Mb) – as is…

That link didn't show up when I searched for it.

Scan is clean. Note that these scans are not always thorough.
Not in an obvious sense. When I tried scanning tcw.z separately,
it had not scanned the file before.

It uses an InstallShield installer. The file extension of .z
is a new one for me. Usually they have a .cab or so.

I did look at it. Learning a new CAD program is a significant
undertaking, you can't just get to work and see how it goes as you might
with a new Word Processor or a new photo editor. For better or worse I
used Turbocad on windows for many years.

I understand. I thought that maybe you only wanted to look at some cad
files. I used to use a cad program called DeltaCad, which is still
around and loads up under WINE.

Yes, thanks. The files I need to open are old turbocad files. I used to
do a lot of drawing on turbocad, interior joinery and kitchens and
bookcases and things, then did it on Sketchup which was great for
presentations. You had to use windows but it crashed a lot and you would
sometimes lose work if you hadn't saved with a new filename. I stopped
doing that work around the time Windows 8 was coming in. Boy, was I glad
to abandon windows then and move over to mint!
