A man travelling to visit family in Iraq via Qatar last March was well
aware of the need to avoid international roaming charges on his Xfinity
Mobile plan. He went to an Xfinity store to buy a $10 per day international
roaming plan.

Nevertheless, Comcast billed his account his bill $23,686 in
international roaming charges. He had set up automatic debiting of his
checking account, so Comcast took $10,000 and then shut off his account.

He was really scewed because the phone in question was the main phone he
used to book customers; he's a barber.

Now obviously he made any number of mistakes. He subscribed to Comcast
cellular service. He used his business phone, which probably should have
been locked in a drawer till he returned.

He tried to get help from Comcast subscriber service for 8 months. No
one knew ho to help him (and didn't try). In a bizarre coincidence, when
the reporter contacted Comcast, somehow they found they were able to
resolve his billing issue and refund his money.

I don't understand why he had to buy a $3,000 to become a Verizon
subscriber.
