I need to read some usenet posts that are older than one is on my news
server and older that what I already downloaded.

Can you still use groups.google.com to do this?

I'm looking at groups.google.com now and it shows 5 usenet groups,
including this one that I set up 10 years ago, but I can't figure out
how to add another.

It has Create group, but that is for my own, new group.

Wait, there are a lot of groups I've read under Recent groups. I didn't
add most of these. How do they know I read them?

"Find and join a group"
<https://support.google.com/groups/answer/1067205>

Or, to read the group on Google Groups without joining it there:

* In your web browser's URL bar, enter
"https://groups.google.com/g/" followed by the group name.

For example, to read news.software.readers, enter
<https://groups.google.com/g/news.software.readers>
into your web browser's URL bar.

Per groups.google.com:

"Effective February 22, 2024, Google Groups will no longer support new
Usenet content. Posting and subscribing will be disallowed, and new
content from Usenet peers will not appear. Viewing and searching of
historical data will still be supported as it is done today."

In the top of the page where it says My Groups, click the down arrow.
Select All groups and messages.
Click in the field to the right of that and type the name or partial
name of the group you want to find.(e.g. alt.usenet.offline)
Then hit enter and a list of matching groups will appear.
Click on the star at the extreme right hand side of the listed items
to add them to your favorites list.
