Made me wipe and reinstall. 22454.100 is some
new preview release.

On the bright side, I am getting really good at

Weird is a good description

https://uupdump.net/
Windows 11 Insider Preview 22454.1000 (rs_prerelease) amd64

WinVer says:

Windows 11
Versions Dev (OS Build 22454.1000)
Your mother was a cow

Maybe you are getting some older. This is a "rs_prerelease",
whatever that means

I don't think we should get too invested in this stuff.

I've read several opinion pieces today, suggesting this is
mostly a copy of Win 10X, but without the dual screen.
I've expressed the opinion in the past, that this
containerization idea would be in full swing in Win11.
But the opinion pieces don't seem to know what
is in there, just the things we can see, which
is central menu, windows with rounded corners.
Nothing else is evident at the moment. There
are no "kinematics" hinting at changes underneath.

And of course, all the things we've seen which aren't
finished, like the items with two menus, or the
items with two menus, in the wrong order.

We're quibbling over what amounts to no more than
"about three deck chairs". Jamming us up on TPM 2.0
was a great scam, and sure put us off the scent.

In effect, Windows 11 is part of the Windows 10 rolling
release. It's a snapshot in time. It's little more
advanced than 21H1. It's 21H2 in sheep-clothing.
If you were silly enough to pay $150.00 for it,
it's a rolling release and "the check is in the mail"
in terms of the feature set.

From a strategy perspective, it's OK to be selling
a computer as "Windows 11 ready", but you really
don't have to put Windows 11 on it today. Or
on the release day in October 2021. If and when
it has had more work put into it, then would be
the time to entertain installation.

The release is aspirational. "We promise to do a
self-driving car, scouts honor." We might have
to wait a couple years, to see such a wonder-pony.
Installing it two years from now, you're installing
it "when they deliver and not before". If an article
two years from now, can convince us there is a
self-driving car in there, that's when we install it.
I don't see much benefit from "riding a pile of rocks"
for two years, sitting there watching Windows Update
pour in scads of bug fixes and "fresh from the oven"
subsystems. We've already done that, and it's a bore.
I don't want some joker doing another FrameServe
while I'm trying to use the computer. (FrameServe =
software that does nothing for users, except break
webcams.)

The Android stuff (such as it is) is not ready for
the release, and I don't recollect hearing an
"expected ETA" either.

Oct.5 will tell all. They could leapfrog the mess they've
created so far, and scare the crap out of us. Or, they
could release another "three deck chair" version, with
a bunch of driver bugs.

The thing is, what's bothered me all along, is the
short time from "announcement to Insider testing". The
interval was too short. Short enough to make me doubt
they were serious about releasing it. All the optics
of a Vista SP0 release.

OK, carry on being excited about release numbers... :-)

It's sure going to need quite a lot of chair aligning before I install
it as my main system, I sure don't care for it much as it stands.
