I received an email yesterday in my Inbox, filed it in an appropriate
folder, call it XYZ, and forwarded it to a couple of others. This
morning I want to reply to it but it's in neither Inbox nor XYZ.

'Review Recent Email' confirms it was routed to the Inbox. 'Jump'
briefly flashes the window but nothing else. (Shouldn't it pop-up a 'Not
found' message of some sort?)

I assumed I'd mistakenly moved it to some folder other than XYZ. But a
global search over all folders gave no hits.

I also use my iPad and iPhone for email. Searching tools there are
poorer than Agent's and so far haven't found the email there either. But
I suspect some action or setting there is the most likely cause?

'Jump' searches your folders for the Message-ID. If the email did not
have a Message-ID, then 'Jump' would not be able to find the message.
Some email messages do not have a Message-ID. A Message-ID is required
in received Usenet messages, but not in received email messages.

It does not do that here.
