I am going crazy trying to increase the size of the font in the pane
at the top of the page that shows the newsgroup, Subject, To, CC, Bcc,
etc.

My eyesight is poor, and I have to use a magnifying glass to check for
spelling mistakes, etc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I can increase the font size anywhere else on the page but not that
upper pane containing the newsgroups, subjects, etc.

Puzzling.

I have been operating Free Agent 4.2 for many years, but I don't
recall having this problem before. I just got a new PC with Windows
11 installed.

Bingo. You set system fonts to a readable size in the old pc. Time to
do that here.

The font size here is controlled by the settings at
Tools >> Options >> Display Fonts
Adjust the settings for both "Variable-pitch body" and for "Fixed-pitch body".

If there is more than one language in the drop-down "Fonts for the language",
then you must adjust the font size for each language separately.

B. If you mean at the top of THIS page, shown in this screen-shot:

This panel is a dialog box, and the font size is controlled by the
Microsoft Windows font size setting for dialog boxes. You adjust
this in Windows.

If you really do want to adjust the font size only here in Agent,
there is mod to do this. See reply "next door" in newsgroup
alt.usenet.offline-reader.forte-agent.modified.

Start > Settings > System > Display

To the right of *Scale* is a pulldown menu... default/recommended is
100%... but I find 125% is perfect for myself.

Did you investigate *Scale* within Win 11, as suggested?

It certainly works for me. To prepare this, I adjusted my system back
to 100% (from 125%) and the display within everthing in Forte Agent 8
became miniaturised... and 150% positively huge!

Go big or go home. I found out you can get 32" TVs for $25-50 used and
that is what I am using for a monitor in a couple of places. I can
see that little font.

In Windows 11, go to: Start >> Settings >> System >> Display
and change the 'Scale' drop-down from 100% to 125%.

I get what your screen-shot shows, when I adjust the font size in *Agent*.
There is no setting in Agent for what you want.

Not pertinent to the question asked, but in that screen shot, I see
that you have the headers with a yellow background color. I went to
Tools >> Options >> Display Colors and looked for a place to change it
there, but I couldn't find it. Can you point me to the correct place?

The yellow highlighting and the red arrow were both added to the
screen-shot using Paint.NET <https://www.getpaint.net/>.

I did that, but while it made a difference (increase in font size) in
the body of the message, it made no difference in the panel at the top
that I am talking about - as small as ever.

I did that, Ralph, but while it made a difference (increase in font
size) in the body of the message, it made no difference in the panel
at the top that I am talking about - as small as ever.

It has got to be a flaw in Windows 11. I was running Windows 7 for
years, and I liked it but had to get it updated a month or so ago when
I got a new PC.

Even Notepad is a mess. Wondows Notepad is the same - very small
print. I can "Zoom" in and enlarge, but I cannot save the enlarged
font.

I downloaded a "Simple Notepad" and it is the same deal. I can
enlarge by zooming but I cannnot save the larger font.

I can't help you with W11 ( forever on W7; I can build my own PC's ).
I looked at W11 and I don't understand it at all. I'm trying Linux
Mint as alternative.

I'm not sure what you use as magnifying glass, but something like this
is really helpfull for reading small text, papers or text on a
computer screen/mobile phone.

Thanks, but I do not understand one bit of it, and in that case, I
will not use it.

The Windows 11 flaw you refer to only happens when you use both of the
following:

i) In the program's High DPI compatibility settings,
you use the option 'Scaling performed by: Application'
and not one of the other options.

ii) You use the Windows 11 'Scaling' drop-down to set the scaling,
rather than the Windows 11 'Custom scaling' option.

Change just one of these two, and you get the increased font size you want.

You also get the increased font size you want with the XRS mod I gave you
in my first reply a week ago.
