Looks great, thank you Tom!

Did you stumble upon any evidence of the earlier board versions implementing the S3 Vision 864 (not 868) video?
One of my boards is like that, I think the difference is it's lacking video acceleration.

Did you get the 1 MB cache configuration going, or your L2 cache working at all?
My 256 KB don't seem to appear in any common diagnosis tools like cachechk.

That's interesting!

Both my PC730/750 planars have the '868 video controller. Only my
Japanese PC720 (486 box) has the lower-end '864 variant. I wasn't aware
that some PC730/750 planars used the '864 as well. Can you please check
if the board shares the same P/N? The planar is also used in the PC
Server 310. Maybe the server boards use the '864? Dunno, more data needed...

Not sure what the differences are between the 864 and 868, but I know
they are pin-compatible. We have the data books here, if you wanna
investigate:
https://www.ardent-tool.com/datasheets/S3_Vision864.pdf
https://www.ardent-tool.com/datasheets/S3_Vision868.pdf
(the 868 document lacks a bunch a info and references the 864)

I'll check if the base 256K L2 shows up in diags and benchmarks.

I'm pretty sure I don't have compatible SRAMs and TAG chips to expand
the cache.
