I have been running my GPS based NTP server for about 3 years and the old adafruit receiver gave it up about a month ago on my Pi 3. I decided to update the OS to 64 bit and other software and purchase the new hat module. Most of the configuration was pretty easy.

In the last few years I started to monitor everything in my network rack with Grafana and using the Telegraf plugin's. The NTP from Telegraf is basically running the ntpq command on a regular basis and logging the servers to the InfluxDB. It's ok but would it be better to log loopstats, peerstats, clockstats when generated into the InfluxDB?

Has anyone seen a way to do this?

I do not have a local reference clock so I am outside my wheelhouse, but I see you've gotten no replies.

Grafana can be a syslog collector, yes? Have you tried setting "logconfig +clockall"? It should log reference clock events and statistics to syslog. Maybe the statistics you want are included.

I'm reasoning by analogy from my own experience -- I know that "logconfig +peerevents" logs changes to the peer list, and can be used like protostats or ntpq -np. Example:

from protostats
59808 73015.418 (ip.v4.of.peer) 132a 8a sys_peer

from syslog
Aug 17 15:16:55 (hostname) ntpd[13998]: (ip.v4.of.peer) 132a 8a sys_peer

from ntpq -np
remote refid st t when poll reach delay offset jitter
==============================================================================
*(ip.v4.of.peer) (ip.v4.of.refclock) 2 u 79 128 377 44.151 -1.029 0.351

Cheers!
Edward
