No question, dealing with any Microchannel PS/2 is a challenge today. If someone wanted a retro IBM machine on the cheap and wanted it to run at least Windows 98 (or Linux), there were plenty of Aptiva models that would make the job easy -- or something in the PC 300/700 series. If you wanted a small challenge and were looking for a server-class machine, the Netfinity line might be of interest.

Well - I'm starting to bring up the "PS/2 Portal" concept again: An adapter that RIPLs to a proxy/bridge, and that could configure a microchannel system over the network if needed. I want to look at aspects of the microchannel multi-processor bus. Chet Heath wanted to do that at IBM, but had to leave and start OmniCluster to create the PCI 'SlotServer'.

To me, fooling with PS/2s was never about the software, it was about the HARDWARE. The fact it’s a PS/2 is the whole point. Are they better than anything else, except at being proprietary? Probably not, but that’s also kind of the point, at least to me.
