I am so dissatisfied with the current look, that I had to delete (well I
didn't have, I just wanted to) delete the whole "dot thunderbird" and
reload one that I used with Thunderbird in 2022.

Well, it brought me back to the old look, until I signed up onto Gmail
and then I have all these bold fonts and colours all over the place.

I hate colours and bold fonts.

How do I go back to the past? The present sucks!

(And no, I don't have any custom themes installed)

How did this happen? My own installation of TB 115.8.1 looks very
similar to what I've had in the past few years. No colours, no bold fonts.

In the left panel, which has the list of Usenet groups, those that
contain unread messages are shown in bold, and those empty, in
not-bolded. It is a good choice, IMHO.

There are other places that use bolded font to differentiate something,
all seem correct usages to me.

Here a comparison 102 to 115: https://imgur.com/a/WeoWvBj, 102 on top, 115 below.
It's showing news, not Gmail. With a few tweaks to userChrome.css, it looks almost
the same. This is BB with multi-line view, but it wouldn't be much different in TB.

If you make a userChrome.css and put this in it, bold will be removed. Just one line.

I don't seem to have it, but it looks like I have it. It happened after
logging in to the Gmail account.

No, it's not a built-in add-on, I tried it, don't really use my gmail
account in TB much so disabled the add-on as it was a bit clunky.

I am using Betterbird 115.8.0, I have a gmail account, and it all looks
fine to me. Much the same as TB has looked for years.
