Well, 32MB wasn't all that much, even back in the day. Yes, it's more than enough to run AIX 3.2.5. The seller says it's rare, I wouldn't go that far -- uncommon, yes. If I still had any interest in the old RS/6000 machines (I don't), I wouldn't pay more than $50 and I'd require proof that the hardware was good and that I had a valid userID/password to log into AIX. But that's just me...

It appears to have a very hard to find. Iris Vision video card.it is a two and a half slot card.
these worked very well under cad programs back then and there were lots of drivers for them as well.
Lorenzo has done a lot with them in early windows and dos programs as well....his work is in the Ardent Tool..
I have a couple of them but I have not found the time to play with them

I can't tell if any of the SIMMs are double sided but I think each board
is 32MB based on the IC markings for a total of 64MB.

This one has the GT4xi, an IBM design (based on all those TI DSPs) only
used on AIX. The IrisVision is an earlier card. I'm not sure if you
can use an RS/6000 IrisVision on a PS/2 but they were somewhat common in
first gen RS/6000.

Yes, but... Re: look

According to legend, they cobbled together an OS/2 driver for it.

" In the process of testing the product, it was discovered that an IBM
PS/2 model 70 personal computer running OS/2 could be used to run
diagnostics and test programs on the card much easier than using the
RS-6000. So a minimal device driver was written for the card and soon
IBM was shipping product. (Ed. Roger Brown can't find the "minimal OS/2
drivers" and he works for SGI.) "

Without looking at the page, lemmee guess, AutoCAD and some rendering
programs?

We can't use it as a supported video card under Windows to do non-CAD
things?

Jiri, Jiri, what has become of you?
