Got upgraded to 115.8.0 (64-bit)
Not exacty what I wanted but....

I'm seeking a configuration for Yahoo mail.
I found <https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN4075.html>
but its fields do not agree with what TBird requests.

I put in SSL/TLS, then Oauth.
I muddle through and got an "enter account" screen.
It then rejects me with no such account.

Suggestions?

Did you set up the account on the website of Yahoo before? That is what
you have to do before you can access Yahoo with TB.

> Suggestions?

The account set up in TB is automatic. Use an ordinary password and let
TB do the rest. If you are not happy you can make changes afterwards.

The instruction says: use Your full email address (name@domain.com)
You can try it with only your name, that works for me, I don't remember
if I ever tried it with my full address.

Your settings are what appear for me with Yahoo!

But in the past, I recall the instruction first to go into the T'bird
password info: Tools > Settings > Privacy and Security > Saved
Passwords (on the right).

Once there, *delete* your existing p'word labelled Yahoo!

Then walk yourself through the T'bird set-up again, and when it asks
for your password, *for this occasion only* use the password that
grants you access to that mail account *as if you're on-line with a
browser*.

That should trigger Yahoo! to ask for permission... and once you
agree, it will add its own token/bliddy great long string as a saved
password.

Gmail's OAuth2 causes the same grief.

I get the starting screen. I enter the name, {email}@yahoo.com, and password.
I get "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account"...

So I tried with the suggested

IMAP:
Server Name imap.mail.yahoo.com port 993
User name xxx@yahoo.com

Connection security SSL/TLS
Authentication OAuth2

SMTP:
Server smtp.mail.yahoo.com Port 465
Security SSL/TLS
Authentication OAuth2
Name: xxx@yahoo.com

And retested. THAT succeeded and got me to a Yahoo screen.

"Sign in using your Yahoo account"
and it autofilled in my account."

And I'm set. Thanks.

I *HATE* their web interface. Not having to ever use it again
was the whole reason to upgrade to a TBird that worked with
Oauth correctly.

You're posting this in alt.comp.software.thunderbird.
So your suggestion is somehow off topic and irrelevant.

While I agree that the interface is poor, I still log into Yahoo to
delete the sent, spam, and trash mail.

Any mail you sent from TB, and I suspect any other program, is
maintained in the Yahoo webmail, I beleive, until you delete it.

But Yahoo! *is* webmail...

As is *Gmail*... and *Hotmail*...

All three have one thing in common. They provide an email service.
With all three one can either use the web portal, or an email client of
your choosing. Also, providers like mine (Charter) and many others,
provide a webmail portal. I personally hate webmail and only use it to
fix things.

If the IMAP protocol is used mails are kept until they are deleted in
TB. Absolutely no difference to other mail providers.
