are no longer interested in windows 7 discussion..

Not to worry. The XP group is quiet, too. Holidays,
probably. :)

The Win10 group is fairly busy, by current standards,
but questions about Windows are not so common there.
Maybe one in 5 to 10 posts is actually about Win10,
and many of those are discussions about version updates.

As far as I know there have been no problems
with usenet. But the audience is aging. Some years ago
I'd learn a couple of new things each day about Windows
and about programming. There would be up to a dozen
topical discussions in each of 8-10 groups. Today there
are just a few oldtimers left who know how to read without
emojis. But if you rush over to the Android group
you can get in on a discussion about parking brakes. :)

Yes, although there are a significant number of people still using
Windows 7.

However these days, the number of people using usenet has dramatically
decreased. The great majority of computer users don't even know usenet
exists. Most people with computer questions use web-based forums
instead. There are many reasons for that, but perhaps the primary one is
that Microsoft dropped its newsgroups and has instead created web-based
forums; in my view, it's bad enough that Microsoft did that, but what's
even worse is that their forums are designed and implemented terribly,
and they are not easy to use, especially for those participants
answering questions. Besides the Windows newsgroups, I also participate
in the Microsoft web-based Windows forums, but every now and and then, I
curse the way they work.

I no longer use Windows 7, and have upgraded to every new version since
then: 8, 8.1, 10, and now 11. I'm still here on the Windows 7 newsgroup,
though, because now and then I can some help someone with a question

Not just Windows I'm afraid to say. Lot of organization which had
a Usenet presence migrated to Yahoo, Web sites, and Facebook. SO
rather than have one place to go for news, I have to "traipse all over
town" to get to the newsstands which carry the "paper" you want to
skim.
