Posting here as I cannot find a Thunderbird group.

If I want to subscribe to a group and know the *exact* name, I can do so.

I became suspicious something was wrong when I could not find a win11 group.

If I searched for a group containing windows-11 none was found, yet if I
put in the full name alt.comp.os.windows-11
there it was

What has gone wrong with Thunderbird ?

When I first searched for no-quote 'windows-11', it didn't come up, but
that turned out to be because my list needed to be refreshed. After
refreshing the list, Tb found windows-11 ok in alt.comp.os.windows-11.

I did refresh it but it did not show.
That said, after I subscribed to it, it did show after I refreshed.

Anyway, if I have another such problem I can use the link you provided
to see which groups they carry

Seems like the problem is with Eternal September and and not even a
Thunderbird problem.

No, that has never been necessary.

Anyway, it seems it's on Eternal September's end. It did not happen
using another news server

I use Eternal September. If I type in windows-11, it shows up
immediately.

Please specify hostname and port you are using. E-S currently also runs
a test server on nntp-new.eternal-september.org.

The problem seems to be with the Linux version.

On Windows it shows up by simply entering windows-11 but only after a
refresh.

If I close the reader and re-open, it still needs a refresh, but it at
least works.

and Thunderbird.

I use a legacy TB and if I type "s-11" in the search window then "
windows-11" comes up.
