Hi,

The Beta does not ask for permission to have read access to the contacts
maintained in contacts.app. Which probably means that it won't be able
to use them when creating e-mails.

I knew it!

SeaMonkey (2.53.16 release) does not use e-mail addresses stored in
Contacts. This used to be one of the few advantages of SeaMonkey mail
over Thunderbird and one of the reasons to keep using SeaMonkey.

Please make this work again, I would highly appreciate it.

I have observed it on a Mac. I have not tested it on any other platform.

The Contacts app is Mac specific? I have never heard of anything like
that under Linux or Windows (no idea about Win11).
Just for giggles I tried composing a mail addressed to someone who has
mailed me but is not in my Address book, auto-fill worked just as I
expected.

That still works. This is SeaMonkey's internal address book. But I would
like SeaMonkey to be able to use the standard address database that
comes with the OS. I am sharing the content this address database across
platforms and machines via CardDAV.

There wasn't anything changed here. Seems apple added a new requirement and
you updated macOS. Added <key>NSContactsUsageDescription</key> to the plist
file. Please test the latest 2.53.17b1 pre build from
https://www.wg9s.com/comm-253/ I was able to acccess the contacts again under
13.3.

I am afraid this cannot be quite correct. 2.53.13 and 2.53.15 do ask for
permession to read the contact database and they do use it.
