Is there a separate forum for betterbird questions?

Closing the message window closes the application. (slack15)

de.comm.software.mozilla.mailnews has many more BetterBird users and the
principle person involved, Jorg, closely monitors the group.

I think you haven't understood this.

BTW, the answer to:

it's just crappy patches on top of the work of others

was:

What you call "crappy patches" delivers complex search terms, regular expression
search, search in PGP encrypted messages, Linux system tray integration, recent
file attachments and many more features to discerning users who have asked for
some of these features for 20 years or more. Additionally it fixes various bugs in
Thunderbird and many fixes have been integrated into the Thunderbird code base,
five alone in September 2023 so far (with two more lined up).

The whole idea of open source is to build on top of the work of others. Besides,
the project leader of Betterbird was the Thunderbird maintainer between 2017 and 2019.

If this is the case why did you threaten somebody who was creating
something using JavaScript as much as you are using. How many ways are
there to use JavaScripts to create Extensions in Thunderbird or Firefox?.

Why did Mozilla ban you from their platform? Is it because you were not a
Team Worker or was it because they deemed you as scammer on their
platform? Your extension was not free but when somebody created a free
version you decided to threaten him with legal action? Do you think
Mozilla can allow this on their platform?

Long story. It happened in 2020. I was the hired Thunderbird maintainer from 2016
to 2019:

You got it all mixed up. The extension was and is free. I only decided to withdraw
it from addons.thunderbird.net and host it at www.betterbird.eu. That was in 2023.

I pointed out the license conditions to the author of the (unnecessary)
replacement add-on, that's all.

In general: Do you want to discuss software here or politics? If you want to
discuss politics, please inform yourself, all the information is publicly
available, but it takes more than repeating a Reddit post.
