This is what is happening: some messages have been sended to "spam" or
to "unwanted mail" cartels, even if the sender's address is my address
book. I don't understand why.
Is anyone able to help me ?

If you set that in TB correctly most probably your mail provider is also
using a spam filter. You can check that in the source text (ctrl+U).
Check for something like "X-Spam-Flag: Yes". The provider does not know
anything about your local filters in TB.

Your local client's address book has no effect on the server-side
anti-spam measures at whomever is your e-mail provider. If you want
your e-mail provider's spam filtering disabled, you'll have to use their
webmail client to look at the server-side settings in your e-mail
account to see if they permit you to disable their spam filtering. If
their spam filtering can be disabled, it will be up to you thereafter to
manually filter out the spam, try to define filters in Tbird to get rid
of spam (good luck with that), or employ client-side anti-spam software
to filter out the spam but hopefully not incur false positives (ham
dumped in the Spam/Junk folder). Alternatively, check if there is a
Safe Sender whitelist you can define in your online account that would
exclude those senders from your e-mail provider's spam filtering. Some
e-mail providers have server-side a Safe Sender whitelist that lets
those senders get past your e-mail provider's spam filtering, but many
do not. You didn't mention who you use for your e-mail provider.

"see if they permit you to disable their spam filtering"

Gmail has no option to disable server-side spam filtering. Hotmail also
does not. Some e-mail providers do, like my ISP's e-mail service.

"check if there is a Safe Sender whitelist you can define in your online
account that would exclude those senders from your e-mail provider's
spam filtering"

Gmail doesn't have a server-side Safe Sender whitelist. Hotmail has
both Safe Sender and Safe Domain whitelists along with Block Sender and
Block Domain blacklists.

How spam filtering is implemented, if disable-able, and if whitelists
and blacklists are provided as server-side features depends on which
e-mail provider is used. No mention by OP which e-mail provider(s) he
uses. OP's article has a dearth of details, and no idea what he
intended to mean by "unwanted mail cartels".

So, reeellly, you're expecting a *free* consumer web-based mail
deliverer to provide whistles-and-bangs considerations?

My gosh. The EU nanny-regulators are losing their touch.

You have no clue what Google's Gmail really is. It has all the
characteristics of a consumer grade free meail service but it is also
offered to large corporations. Not necessarily under the name gmail.

Brain dead Troll. This has nothing to do with the EU.

In any case I think I understood from your answers the origin of the
problem and I have, therefore, gone to see how my account is configured
on the mail server (this is the main Italian telephone company) and I
will see if I can set the necessary parameters.
In any case thanks for the help !

That is exactly what I wanted to suggest: Try to check the configuration
of your account on the Telecom Italia-Server.
BTW: I live in Switzerland. ;-)

Take care, Jörg
