I don't use it because I seldom edit my GRUB config. The only thing I
do is to switch off Plymouth. I use vi to edit the file.

What is hard about switching between kernels?

I have used GrubCustomizer in the past to clean up the
Grub listing but I keep 3 or 4 kernels at a time on my Grub list
and choosing a different kernel is easy at startup.
I use PCLinuxOS 64 and we users of that distro install kernels
with Synaptic as well as all the updates coming down from the
packager. Currently at Linux 6.0.9 and KDE's Plasma 5.26.3
which is good enough for me to do all my usual business on
my Dell Latitude E7450.

I haven't switched between kernels in a while, I just run whatever is
current and updates install and set the default kernel for me. If I
needed to switch from the default kernel, I'd edit the appropriate
config file and run update-grub.

Somewhat related, a Grub tool I have used is grub-emu to test different
themes without having to reboot. Can't seem to do much more with that
but I guess it would point out obvious errors in the Grub config file.

it sez:

"the more you complicate something, the bigger the risk of failures"

how true, but even more so how hilarious in the case of grub2 :-)))))

Yes, it makes the use of several bootable distros on one machine so
much easier. Chainloading the likes of Windows works easily too - no
worries about writing various text settings files. The author
produced various versions, if it's not in the distro repo you need
to be careful to use the latest version.

On boot, I can load any of 4 operating systems. I do it without any customizer. It's built into grub if you let it
run the os-prober to find all of the systems and put them on the menu.
