Hi

By now Forte Agent is the main mail/news program for my wife and me, but
I am looking at merging to Thunderbird. I have used Agent for almost as
long as I have had internet, and still like it, but would like to have
an alternative, just in case Agent has to be stopped.
So now I am "familiarising" myself with Thunderbird. Some things must be
done. What about filtering? I only see the possibility of making
"Message Filter", and it looks like each filter can only handle one account.
I have three mail accounts, used by two persons, and I would like to
make one filter that moves received mails to two new folders, one for
each person. I can do it by making 6 message filters, but there probably
is an easier way? Anyone?

Best regards

PS: I have not looked at "Developer Tools".

yes a filter is either for an account, or one folder within an account.

They won't help in relation to filters.

Thank you for the reply. That sets things clear: Agent still rules :-)
No problem, I think I will manage to make 6 Message Filters.

Best regards

I looked in my profile in the IMAP folder and the folder for my account (Gmail). In there is a
msgFilterRules.dat file. You could make all the rules for Gmail for example and then copy that .dat
file to the other accounts. This would save you doing nothing more than maybe changing a "move to
folder" filter to a different folder.

Well, here with Thunderbird on a Raspberrypi running Raspi OS, I did a
search for "msgFilterRules.dat" on the whole filesytem, including hidden
files, no luck. And that was after adding the 6 filters.

Not really a problem :-)

Yes. 115 something. Now I am on Windows where I have TB 115.7.
Probably also 115.7 on the Raspberrypi-
