Is the disk light active - or is it "frozen ON" ?

It's OK for a disk light to be ON a lot,
as long as it "flickers" as a measure of
authentic effort. When the LED just stays ON
solid, it might not be doing anything
(like my Typing Machine when it died).

Does the machine appear in the Network Neighbourhood ?

Can you ping it ?

It could be, this is the third time it tried to
start, and it's doing a bad block scan of C: .
Complete with 15 second delay per failed sector.
