In 1962 Remington (Univac's parent) advertised a new adding machine with a new feature--it could divide.

Note it still had the full keyboard, not just a ten key. Note that the divide was more of a repetitive subtraction.

My owners manual for the 1908 burroughs class 1 model 9 has an division
algorithm listed, it's a bit complicated, but it works.

For multiplication, the 'repeat' key is used.

I had the chance to play with various mechanical calculators,
including that exact model. Lots of fun...
