I use Thunderbird for IRC among many other things and one of the IRC
servers I connect to uses a self-signed certificate. Even though I
confirm the security exception and check the box to remember this,
Thunderbird fails to automatically connect to this IRC server at startup
citing the self-signed certificate as the cause.

Is this some about:config-esque magic I can use to fix this?

Thanks,

I had a related problem recently, with email. Maybe you can get ideas
from it.
