Slide 3 in the ad says:
Pin 1 : TxD
Pin 2 : VCC
Pin 3 : GND
Pin 4 : Rxd

Slide 6 says:
Pin A : TxD
Pin B : Rxd
Pin C : VCC
Pin D : GND

The pinout on the gadget itself says:
Pin 5 : TxD
Pin 6 : Rxd
Pin 7 : VCC
Pin 8 : GND

Without crossing any wires slide 6 has my vote, but who knows?

I wonder what transmission speeds can be achieved.

so many crossed wires coming lately from the *GPRC*
embedded with call to home.

take for example a power regulator modules with reverse soldered plug.

anyway i was expecting more interest as this would sort the problem for
some to get their retro fetish online or on LAN.

speed, my money on 38600bps to avoid the FIFO glitch, but i could be wrong .

I'm pretty sure this was discussed before. I remember a similar WiFi
product that could be used as a transparent wireless RS232 link or in a
modem emulating mode (standard AT commands).

I've only checked the auction page, but I don't see a mention of the
modem mode there...
