I have had my Win 7 machine with Home Premium for 7 years.
During this time I have changed emails addresses a number of times.
Win 7 occasionally will offer up a possible email address when I fill
out a form that I haven't used in years.

How do I clean out all the old email addresses from Win 7 or are
these old addresses coming from Firefox.

Thanks

"offer up a possible email address when I fill out a form". In what
application do you see the form? Firefox? If so, yes, you likely told
Firefox to remember passwords and/or to save form data.

Check if you kept passwords stored in Firefox for the old accounts:
Firefox settings -> Privacy & Security section -> Logins and Passwords
-> Saved Logins. You might have many logins saved in Firefox. Use the
searchbox to find those that match on the domain for the old accounts.

Check if you are saving form data in Firefox:
Firefox settings -> Privacy & Security section -> Forms and Autofill
Autofill addresses - Is it enabled? If so, check Saved Addresses.
Delete those listed for the domains of the old accounts.

While I have Firefox remember my logins, I use unique credentials at
every domain. That is, every domain has different logins than all other
domains. I do not reuse logins at multiple domains. Firefox will save
the login credentials, but it prompts, and you have to allow the save.
I also have AutoFill for forms disabled. Up to you to decide if you
want your form data reusable sometime later.

I did find saved email addresses on FF but none of these sites have
been accessed in a very long time. They have now been deleted.

The most recent form I filled out and saw a no longer valid email
address offered was for an email address that was deleted 7 years ago
and not one of those I found on FF.

I failed to mention that Outlook 2012 also offers email addresses that
have been inactive for years and are not on FF and never has been. So
I guess that Outlook 2010 also stores email addresses somewhere.

Thanks for the reply.

Please clarify: saving e-mail addresses (login credentials for accounts)
is NOT the same as saving form data (any data entered into a form and
saved into the web browser's cache). Be clear when you mention e-mail
addresses, or are asking about saving form data. The web browser will
pre-fill the login fields if you chose to save the passwords into the
web browser's cache. That is ONLY on login pages. Form data can be for
any web page at a web site, and not just for e-mail accounts. Are you
asking about saving login credentials, or saving form data?

Deleting accounts has no connection to saved form data. That a domain
where you had an e-mail account had that account deleted has no effect
on old form data you saved. Form data, for example, could be a site
asking for your name, postal address, phone number, and other user info,
but is not about logins. All web browsers offer saving form data, and
is not nor cannot it be synchronized with whatever action you commit on
the existence of an e-mail account. Going online to delete an account,
or abandoning an account, has to no effect on old form data or saved
logins. The server has no means to tell clients (web or e-mail)
regarding the status of an account (other then trying to establish a
mail session with the server). In fact, deleting an account on the
server could take months before the deletion actually happens. In fact,
you cannot delete Gmail accounts, only disable them. Google will
eventually deactivate the account, but no one, including you, can ever
reuse that account name.

Outlook has its own newsgroup at microsoft.public.outlook.general;
however, because there has been little traffic there for years, it has
been taken over by spammers trying to sell solutions to ancient problems
(the spammer's Google accounts are merely picking up keywords from old
posts, and proposing a payware solution). A simple hunt through
Outlook's setting will discover those that apply to saving form data or
login credentials. I throught login credentials were stored within the
account defined within Outlook. If you delete the account up on the
server, you should also delete the account defined within Outlook. It's
up to you to sync client to server regarding status of an account. You
cannot delete accounts using local clients. You have to do that online.
You can only delete the account definition within the client. You
create and delete accounts while online. In clients, you can only
create or delete information regarding an account whether it exists or
not.

If I understand correctly, form data is probably being saved on the
web site and not on my computer unless I have elected to save it on my
system. If an old email address is being saved on a doctors portal for
instance it might be really difficult to have someone delete it
because a request to the doctor's office would be met with silence
since most of the doctors I use are only health providers and the
billing, insurance information and computer maintenance occurs
somewhere else by a company providing that type of service.

I need to watch closely where various things happen, like offering an
email address that hasn't been used in years or never used but entered
incorrectly a single time but pops up from time to time.

Thanks

Servers don't save form /data/. They just present the forms. Any info
you insert into a form (presented in a web page) is saved locally by the
web client. It's the web browser that is saving the data you enter into
a form if you have the option enabled. It is part of the locally cached
data in the web browser. That's why you can disable the option in the
web client, and why you can delete or empty the web client's cached
data. If you disable the form data save option in the web client, the
server will present you an empty form (unless you are already logged
into the site, and the server can obtain some data from your account to
pre-fill into the form). Without the web client doing the caching,
you'll see an empty form everytime it is presented.

If you have multiple web browsers, and each has its auto-save form data
option enabled, you will have to enter the same data in the same form in
every web browser, because it has its own locally cached data store.
The saved form data is local, and separate to each web client.

You don't even need an Internet connection to disable the auto-save form
data option, or to edit/delete the form data saved into the web client's
data store. The server is not involved in saving that form data.

See the 2nd article to which I linked in my first reply.
