Will Evolution do news reader. I can't find anything in google or in the settings to accommodate it.

I figured out how to configure Evolution to make an nntp account and to
log on to a news server and read messages; but I can't figure out how to
reply to this thread.

It very strongly wants to act like a mail agent. It does not want to
Reply to news group msg which it can read, reply, and edit. The To
field will not accept the news group as a recipient.

Yes, I got it working here. When making the account it wanted an email address but the drill down box at the top allowed for 'none' thus no
email. I'm waiting for this message to test.

Yep. You're right. Any way I try to reply I'm sending with my email and it doesn't pick up the new account like TB does.

Oh well, It's not bad for an email program. Probably why I hear a lot about people using other programs for new in linux. :-)

It is actually a PIM of sorts, and like MS OL it can do Exchange server
and MAPI.

I saw that exchange server mentioned.
I killed the program. Kind of a messy program and I had a hard time getting threads and threads of unread messages. It was one or the
other as I saw it.
It sure did import all of my Gmail calendar and address books like a champ. I'm surprised at the efficiency of it. Contact pictures and
all. Most imports will not bring in the contact photos I've spent lots of time putting it and maintaining as I add users.
Also found it kinda nice to see the picture of the user in the header of each email. An optional item but nice.

If I had to, I could use it for mail.
