Hello,

My non-technical client couldn't mouse right click paste into his work's
Outlook.com webmail in Firefox v121 web browser in macOS Ventura
v13.6.3. It said to use hot keys, but he doesn't like using them

https://www.thewindowsclub.com/copy-and-paste-is-not-working-in-outlook-com
says only Edge and Chrome have that option to allow clipboard via GUI.
What about Firefox without using about:config? Does it really not exist?
:( For now, have to use shift+right click paste as mentioned.

Thank you for reading and hopefully answering soon. :)

Despite a web browser allowing clipboard copy, Javascript in a web page
can disable it. You could disable Javascript, but likely the web page
won't render correctly, or not at all.

I remember seeing an option to define a bookmarklet (a bookmark that
runs a line of Javascript, not pointing to a URL). When visiting a web
page where copy is disabled, you use the bookmarklet to run the
Javascript to disable the disable.

https://dev.to/ahandsel/force-enable-copy-and-paste-on-websites-javascript-bookmarklet-414d

Not sure all that is needed. Most web pages I visit that don't allow
copying its content also don't permit right-clicking on the web page.
Right-click is disable. So, I used a bookmarklet to reenable
right-click, which has the 1-line Javascript code of:

javascript:void(document.onmousedown=null);void(document.onclick=null);void(document.oncontextmenu=null);

That's what is shown in the URL field in the bookmark definition.
Sometimes works, but web devs might use a dynamic page or meta-refresh
that keeps refreshing the web doc to reinstate their Javascripted
disable of right-click.

Of course, there is always the option to look at the code (F12 in FF,
Inspector tab, or right-click on an object to select Inspect from the
context menu) for the web page, and copy the string from there.

I also have the Print Edit WE add-on installed in Firefox. That lets me
select elements in a web page (to select what I want to include when
printing the page), but that level of extracting web doc content might
be beyond your user.

Not sure where in Microsoft's Hotmail/Live/Outlook.com webmail client
your user cannot copy some text. Within an e-mail, I have no problem to
highlight text with the mouse cursor, and right-click to Copy. In HTML-
formatted e-mails, often it works better to highlight from end to
beginning of a text string instead of from beginning to end. Going
beginning to end can result in including HTML code besides the text
string. Also, just because an element in an HTML doc looks like text
doesn't mean it is text. Could be an image, so you have to select the
image instead of what looks like text within the image.

You can right-click then use paste from the menu
or you can use ctrl-v

some sites use javascript to intercept either of those (e.g banks
dislike pasting passwords)

but it works in the webmail version of outlook365 for me ...

Why not just use extensions to disable script and CSS when desired?
I don't allow script in most cases, anyway. I also use a toolbar toggle
button for CSS. A typical online article will be in something like 24px text
with triple spacing, designed to be read on a cellphone screen. By disabling
script and CSS I get a simple, readable page with no funny business, like
no one's seen since 1999. :) Then it's very easy to lasso an article, copy,
paste into Notepad, and thus save the article in a clear, readable format
with my choice of fonts.

Because most non-static websites completely disintegrate without javascript?

Might work, might not. Disabling Javascript could result in the web
page not rendering correctly, or not even getting delivered. Disabling
Javascript to eliminate the block on copying could corrupt the web page,
so the point of disabling Javascript is lost when the content is lost
that you wanted to copy. If it works, yes, that's another way to get
copy to work again. If it doesn't, you need a different way to copy the
content.

While there are add-ons to just enable/disable Javascript in a web doc,
I have the same option in uBlock Origin, but more than just one
function. I can disable Javascript using uBO, refresh the page, and
check if the content I wanted to paste is still available.

Lots of methods of skinning this cat.

One can also press f12 then f1 then scroll down to Advanced setting on
the right and click "Disable JavaScript*" box, if the need is
infrequent. As an aside, disabling JavaScript also will bypass a lot of
paywall pages.

If the content is actually there, disabling script and CSS will eliminate
all funny business. There are two relatively rare exceptions. One is where
the text of the page is actually embedded in javascript variables. The
other is where the page content is actually not there at all. If you don't
allow them to drag you around wherever they like, and possibly join up
as a member, nd maybe even give them a credit card, then you won't
see the page.

I've occasionally run across the first problem and I'm occasionally
determined enough to dig it out of the source code. The second problem
is typically with news sites that want to prevent anyone reading who
doesn't pay. The page is actually not there at all. It's basically just
a landing page with a headline, leading to a signup page. The WSJ is
an example.

are broken *with* javascript.

I generally don't enable any script,

necessary. No one ever complains that I'm using an adblocker because
they need script to chreck for that. :) And actually, I never have used an
