What is the story with Bravenet? We don't get a lot of email from them,
but 100% of what we do get from them is spam. No obvious repeat offenders,
though, which seems like a good thing at first. On the other hand, a
traceroute shows that folks upstream from them are blocking ICMP so I
can't even really see who their upstream is, and why would they do that
if they were legit? Anyone know the story behind these guys? Are they
honest or deliberately spam-hosting?

Have you looked at the BGP? ICMP's not a particularly elegant way to track
down their upstreams.

FWIW, they're fed through Aptum (formerly Peer1), AS13768.

BraveNet are quite respectable, especially given their business model. I've
had an average of one spam per two years coming from their netspace, and
never a repeat offender.

Their upstream Aptum though isn't too proud to give connectivity to even the
worst of scum - have a look at the other customers they're feeding and
you'll see what I mean.
