I've just started using SeaMonkey 2.53.
The Mail window shows something called "Today Pane". Possibly useful.
Quick web search yield discussion hits. Most mention Thunderbird.
Didn't notice any hits for documentation.
Is there any SeaMonkey oriented introduction?
TIA

Richard, I belive what you are refering to is the Calander function
actually called, for some reason, 'Lightning' on the Tools->Add-ons
screen where you can Disable it if you wish.

It used to be a seperate Add-On but now IO think it is a inclusion.

I suspected it was an entry to Calendar but many decades of end user
support in the analog realm taught me to be careful in descriptions ;}

My question remains "what should I be reading?
I need something to monitor appointments.
I'm wondering if it would be useful for tracking "to-do" lists.
My OS is 32 bit flavor of Debian 9.13 .
In the last hour I updated to SeaMonkey 2.53.18.1 .
TIA

If you click on the "Today Pane v" in the status bar, it should toggle
on/off a separate pane on the right hand side.

> I'm wondering if it would be useful for tracking "to-do" lists.

By default it only shows events but there are "<" and ">" icons at the
top that swap between events/tasks/both.

Be aware there's a separate set of "<" and ">" a little lower down, that
act as previous/next day.

The Tbird documentation should be sufficient for help/documentation on
Lightning.
e.g.
<https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/using-lightning-calendar-add-on>

General Info:
For SeaMonkey 2.53.16 and later the following extensions are included.
ChatZilla
DOM Inspector
Lightning

Lightning is the integrated Calendar feature in SeaMonkey(SM)

By default, iirc, it was either hidden or disabled.
To enable or disable
- in SM => Tools/Add-ons Manager/Lightning
(the current version in SM 2.53.18.1 is Lightning 6.2.18.1)

When enabled, more options are present in the SM Menu Bar
View tab adds - Today pane
Events and Tasks(additional Menu Bar feature with its own options)
- New Event, New Task, Calendar, Tasks, Export, Import, Publish, etc.

Also, SM's, Edit/Preferences option has a Calendar category with its
configurable items. Calendar has 3 sub-categories each with their own
options.

When Lightning(the Calendar) is enabled, the F11 function key acts as a
toggle Show/Hide the Calendar 'Today' feature. Hiding does not diable
the extension/add-on.
- The F11 key also acts as toggle for events and tasks when using the
Calendar or Task option mode(found on the Events ane Task Menu)

You can link to google calendar to be a bit more useful by syncing with
an online provider, especially if you have a gmail account. The older
v4.4.2 version of Provider for Google Calendar extension works with
latest SeaMonkey

<https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/provider-for-google-calendar/versions/?page=1#version-4.4.2>

Not just Google Calendar. I've linked it against the gmx.com calendar,
just to see if it worked. Uses WebDav IIRC.

What do you mean by "what should I be reading?", then??

If you have not entered any events/appointments, you should be seeing a
BLANK 'Events and Tasks' column on the RHS of your SM M&N screen. To
enter appointments/etc., try clicking on the 'New Event' button on the
'Events and Tasks' column.

If you want to check if you have entered any events/appointments, select
'Events and Tasks' drop-down at the top of the SM M&N screen then select
'Calendar' to see what you have scheduled for the current month.

If you want further information, try giving us more details rather than
just repeating "what should I be reading?".

HTH.

Poor phrasing. I was asking for documentation.
Someone yesterday replied:

Further comments in that sub-thread indicates it's suitable for
SeaMonkey users.

Thank you.
The first line warns "This article is no longer maintained, so its
content might be out of date." There's at least one broken link.

I like its outline. Should give me guidance in asking productive questions.

It should address some real world problems.
More later.
Thanks again.
