Here's a YouTube video about YouTube's war on ad blockers.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_GARcKCaUfI

Can I point out that I got the Firefox error message, You tab crashed!

Coincidence? I think not.

Watched it, made sense.

Me, I use uBlock Origin combined with Youtube Anti Adblock Bypasser and
it works just great. The nag will flash for a nano-second before it
goes on to the video.

No more ads, no more nags.

I prefer to download the video and watch offline. Less glitches, no ads.

Which tool? My impression is that it is becoming increasingly difficult
to download videos from YouTube.

I wouldn't say that it's more difficult.

Youtube-dl has worked well for many years, provided that it's up to
date. Many now prefer yt-dlp for the sake of extra features that I
personally don't need. Other options might also be available
depending on your OS.

Then there are the various downloader websites. Invidious is
currently a popular one, although you need to pick a working
instance from the list and sometimes they die.

What are you, immortal? The main "extra feature" of yt-dlp is its
ability to complete a download before the user grows old and dies.

It takes constant attention by the program author to counter every
new tactic by Youtube that slows downloads. The author of youtube-dl
stopped doing that more than a year ago -- as, of course, s/he had
every right to do. But it left youtube-dl unusably slow.

Oh I'm tired of repeating myself about this, in this exact same
newsgroup, over and over.

Youtube-dl did implement the fast video downloading, it's just that
the person doing the official releases didn't keep those up to
date. So apparantly nobody but me can find any of the various
places where alternate packages are available.

The latest daily build can always be retrieved at this link:
https://github.com/ytdl-patched/youtube-dl/releases/latest/download/youtube-dl

Or this for Windows:
https://github.com/ytdl-patched/youtube-dl/releases/latest/download/youtube-dl.exe

> It takes constant attention by the program author to counter every
> new tactic by Youtube that slows downloads.

Then isn't it grand that the latest change dy the Youtube-dl
developers was made only a couple of days ago!

https://github.com/ytdl-org/youtube-dl/commits/master

Though I find it only needs updating every few months, for my usage
anyway.

I use several tools, for you tube I use one of those Firefox addons, for
Bitchute another, and for Rumble and other embedded another. Last but
not least is that 4k downloader, it allows for a certain number of
downloads per day, which I rarely even come close to.
