Ah. I vaguely remember something like that. You probably need to fiddle
with the networks settings at the VB level. Some settings wont do DHCP
IIRC.

there is no binding. It is a fake concept. There is an IP stack and
the network card talks drivers talk to it.

Something is blocking your interneet connection. Try looking at your
network settings.

It could be any number of things, given the sparse details you've
provided.

You say that "it cannot see the internet", which (if taken at face value)
means to me that your virtualized Ubuntu can't network connect to a
TCP/IP resource located outside of your local network. This could be
caused by:
a) Ubuntu not being able to access a (virtual or real) network device, or
b) Ubuntu networking not being properly configured, or
c) the VirtualBox networking environment not being properly set up, or
d) the host networking environment not acting as a router, or
e) the host network is filtering out your Ubuntu networking traffic, or
f) your router isn't connected to the internet, or
g) any number of other possible causes.

How have you configured Ubuntu, VirtualBox, your host device, and your
network? What does a traceroute to IP 8.8.8.8, run in your virtual
Ubuntu, show? How far does it go before it gets a timeout? Is DNS working?
