A few friends have recently setup up new Facebook accounts as they said
they were locked out of their old one. I've always wondered what kind of
dumb things people do.

Maybe I found out today:

On my Facebook feed there was a warning that my "password is weak or
might have been stolen" there there were two boxes to fill in.

Current password

New password

Curious as how hackers can put this type of message on one's FB feed?

I guess that's why they're so "friendly" over there.

I've mailed you a thumbs up. It should arrive in 10-14 business days.

If I get such a notice again on my feed, is there any way to trace it?

All I saw was simply an option to click it off.

I would think their Support would have ways of
determining what tied into your view on the platform.

But if you were expecting to do that from your
side, I doubt they would enable you to do work like that.

And as for Facebook not asking for your password, they
do have instances where they do exactly that.

https://www.zdnet.com/article/why-is-facebook-asking-you-for-your-password/

The more complex the state machine on these self-serve
Cloud platforms, the harder it is for mere users to stay
safe. Having a zillion bizarre behaviors erodes user trust.

I dunno how dumb they are but they are not paying attention
to the numberless reports of problems from having a Facebook account.
I stay away from anti-social media like Facebook and Twitter because
I have no children to brag about, not looking for girl or boy friends
and have nothing to sell to others but the idea that they should
be careful in there online behavior because it is ineradicable.
