GNU/Linux is often compared to a car, an elegant sports car at times, but
still a car.

This analogy is flat wrong. GNU/Linux is not like a car; rather it is like
a airplane.

Most people can easily drive a car. Most people cannot easily fly an
airplane.

Airplanes are for the technical elite. To fly, one must know aerodynamics,
navigation, meteorolgy, etc. or you will not be allowed to operate an
airplane, private or otherwise.

So stop the car analogies.

The case is now settled.

Move along.

Cars will never be popular, because there are too many different kinds of
cars around: different sizes, numbers of seats, numbers of doors,
different colours ... they can’t even decide which end should be the
driving wheels!

If they could get rid of all this choice, and settle on a standard car
model, then maybe cars would become popular enough to compete with
computers.

Exactly! There's "too much choice"! Choosing one is like a "needle
in a haystack"! Each and every one must be tried, before the decision
made!

Oops, sorry. For a minute there I thought I was -highhorse.

And the UX is often like driving a 1995 Oldsmobile with wings. One of the
elderly planes I flew had a little problem so the usual final approach
checklist including pumping up the brakes if you planned to stop before
hitting something.

There is no need for anything other than a Trabant. The amazing forward
looking design is absolutely ready to lead the EV revolution. Move over
Tesla, Trabi coming through.
